King of the Hammers 2014 - Who is Going?

Dave, that's good intel on the In-n-out, thanks! Haha! I still may fly out on Saturday afternoon and miss the swap meet as tickets are quite a bit cheaper.

I've been working in Banning (just up the road from Morongo Casino) the past couple days so I pass right by there checking out if they are open or not. Ruby's Diner there also has great burgers if you don't want to fight the In-n-out crowd.

I am trying to make it out for at least a few days this year.

..It's a long way home if you get the itch to go wheeling out there..I'm assuming you are driving down?

...and I don't think Brian will make it past an hour of landing to hit up an in-n-out..The new one might be later in the week, unless we pull up to another one that has no hamburger or fries, but cokes only..:D

If all goes well I'm planning on taking Friday off and heading out there. I know I say that every year, but it just always gets screwed up.:( I hope this year is different.

..This is coming up way to fast..

..I started gathering some new to me camera equipment that should better hold up to the "W", cold, and blowing thick grained sand...

..any free time I have between now and then will be trying to find all my gear as I'm not sure where I unloaded everything when I got back from Arizona..

..I need to find some time to do the maintenance on the X so it can get around the course..:hammer:

Me too....I just had a week off and did nothing:(

Me too....I just had a week off and did nothing:(

..That's a good thing too...:D

..I'm sure this 75-85* degree weather can't keep going on like this...I'm pretty sure it will get cold before KOH..

From the sound of it my Toyota may be making the trek out to KOH with me this year. :bounce: If it fits on the trailer we'll be bringing it out. I still don't have a winch, so I doubt I'll run any trails, but it will be used for pit support and photo access. Counting the days!

..Did you enter the Backdoor climbing event?..$10,000 in payouts and they have recovery crews so you don't need a winch..:D

Just put in for my day off for this:D

What a farce...it's not like they had all those spots up for grabs. Most of the participants were invited. Should be a good show nonetheless.

Right on Steve..:biggthump

..I think they are also going to be letting the spectators back down closer to the action during this and the races...For the Challenge, I'll be watching one of the monitors as I bet it's going to be ridiculous out there at night with it being televised..:(

...i forgot to mention there are now 300 plus teams entered and still counting..

Fifty teams from across the US have signed up to compete in the first ever SRRS ULTRA4 King Shocks East vs. West Showdown at Back Door during the weeklong 2014 Griffin King of The Hammers Presented by Nitto Tire event held in Johnson Valley, CA. This shootout will feature both ULTRA4 vehicles and Rock Bouncers in a shootout style competition at the infamous Back Door trail. The shootout will pit drivers from East of the Mississippi against drivers from the West Coast to see whose vehicle has what it takes to climb Back Door the fastest.

Drawing for driver lineup will be done on Monday, January 13th during the LIVE show! www.ultra4racing.com/live

.....I know this started out being the first 50 anybody to sign up now it's rock bouncers vs Ultra4 only?

30 of them were up for grabs online. They posted it on facebook. Think I saw it took 12 hours for the positions to fill.

Yep...been following the thread on Pirate. Positions filled in less than a couple of hours.

Well bad news is the Toyota is 6" too long to fit (trying to get it, two other buggys and a RZR on a 40' trailer) so its staying home. Good news is I'm still coming and bringing a 4wheeler again this year.

Edit: Also found out that Clint from Battlement Fab isn't going to make it out this year. Jason (with the Red Land Cruiser Buggy) will be there (I'll likely be crashing in the back of his toy hauler again). If I'm not staying in Jason's hauler I'll be crashing in the 4531 Pit area.

..When do you guys expect to arrive and are you setting up same area as last year?

..and can you find out if the bronco is racing again this year...they have been pretty quiet..

I'm riding out with the guys from 4531. We are leaving Junction on Friday 31st and going to Farmington, NM. I don't know what day we are leaving from there. I still haven't heard from Jason as to when he is leaving and where he is going to set up. I will let you know as soon as I find out.

Haven't heard anything on the Bronco either, but I'll ask Clint if he has heard anything.
