"Kitrinos" The project that keeps on giving.

great looking truck. I also like your bike reminds me of the Harley XLCRs.
Is that purple an original limited color?

Hey, thanks Redneck,

Yes, on the paint color, it's called "Dark Cranberry".

I can't wait to take my pic at Top of the World. I get a sense of vertigo just looking at pictures. Looks awesome!

It is an amazing spot. 360* unobstructed view.

Couldn't get out on the usual "poser" rock, people had lawn chairs set up and were napping on the rock.

Just bumped into this looking for storage platform ideas. Great stuff. Love the way it moves forward.

Great fab on those sliders too. definitely one of a kind.

Scanning through I saw the 900F in there, and thought you might get a kick out of these ...

My 1982 CB900F fresh out of the box (I worked for Honda at the time as an assembler, so I actually took it off the truck in a crate myself).

Then a few months later – lowered hand controls (it was Honda's standard set for Europe, so all factory), factory rearsets, Supertrap header, Mikuni smooth bores, an 1100F oil cooler, some racing rubber and a lot of safety wire later, and it hit the track as a Formula 1 class endurance racer. This thing didn't pull out of the corners like the Ninjas or 1100s of the time, but it could run all-out for hour after hour and never break down. And, as I unfortunately learned at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, it could survive a serious trashing. My team partner laid it down in Turn 6, and he ground off most of the alternator (and some other stuff). We ripped off what was left, cleaned it up enough to pass safety inspection, got back on the track running on battery alone and still took third. I loved that thing.

Be well, and thanks for the great ideas here. :exp:

Project Plasti-Dip..

It's time for another winter fix-em-up session. ...

Found a late 80's grill guard, and so it begins.

Some more suspension work (lift) is needed as well.

Looks good man. Really enjoyed those sliders!

KITTY ain't Purple no more!

Plasti-dip is pretty cool stuff. Little tricky to get used to. but really forgiving and easy to work with.

After drying a couple weeks the stuff seems pretty durable. We'll see if the trail damage is as easy to fix as I hope it is.

Did the side moldings, brush guard and rear window trim with bed liner.

Some pin striping and decals, should look sharp.. . .

I like it!

What color plasti-dip did you end up going with?

Desert sandstone. It's one of the three desert camo series.

I didn't buy a kit or sprayer this is all just rattle can work. Twenty cans total, $8 per can. $160 dollar paint job. Well $200 with masking and bed liner. still cheap.

About 30 hours over four one day sessions.

Some tips I learned the hard way:

Do not get this stuff on the rubber trim! (must be masked off) Go back an hour later after it's dry to touch and use a razor to cut the plasti at the tape line! If you just pull the tape the plasti will tear and make a huuuuuuuge mess. Even if it is still wet. They say to just pull tape while it's still wet ---- their wrong!

Apparently this older rubber is just the right stuff that the plasti-dip will melt into it a bit, forming a permanent chemical bond.

I had to go back on my test area and redo the window seal with bed liner to get it black again, so, I had to do the other side to match. Lesson learned, When I got to the doors I masked it off as if I were spraying actual paint.

Two tone:

If you decide to do two tone, it is possible but you need to let the first color dry for at least a week. If you don't your next mask job will simply pull the first color off. Learned this on the bumper and is why I decided to switch to bed liner for the rest of the black parts.

And one cautionary note on the bed liner:

Masking tape does not like to stick to bed liner. It's doable but you really have to rub it down with the ol' thumb nail and even then you need to move quickly before it starts to let go.

Sounds good man. Thanks for all the helpful hints. It almost looks like a whole new vehicle, plus at least its not purple anymore ;)

Slap a phat pin-stripe on it!

The door seams make it look crooked in the pics, but it's dead straight.

Nice optical illusion. .. ... ?

Well now that sure is purdy! I liked the purple too, but I kinda like this color, especially with the black details. Definitely doesn't look like a rattle-can job. I guess some people just have the touch.

I'm not a big fan of Plasti-Dip myself, but thanks for the hints. Sometimes the manufacturer directions aren't as good as they should be.
