Kristy & Kai's Aussie Dora II

G'Day everyone. Kristy and Kai here from Newcastle, NSW Australia. Just thought we would put up a few pictures of Dora I and Dora II. Dora I suffered an incident and had to be retired but she was replaced with the much more capable and reliable Dora II with the OHV Power Plant.

Photo's of us 4WDing are on the home computer and since we are bludging at work right now we don't have them on us but we will put some up later.

Dora II is stock standard except for a bit of a lift with the help of a body lift, Torsion Twist, Extra stiff leaf on the back and new Ultra Heavy Duty shocks all round oh and a bit more rubber with a set of Silverstone MT117 Sports 285/75/16 (close to 34's).

Look forward to talking to heaps of members, say hi if your in a the local area of visiting from interstate or Overseas.

Cheers,

Kristy, Kai and The Bear (aka our 1yr old Alegra)

looks great! those tires you have are crazy looking!

..Welcome here and we love pictures of offroad adventures from down under..:biggthump

Tyres from down under

feared100... thanks they were surprisingly cheap actually at $220 per tyre and around $115 per wheel (had to buy decent offset to fit them under without scrubbing on turn).... There are actually and even more menacing set that Silverstone produce called MT117 Extreme's but since we do plenty of road driving as well as offroad we didn't want to be loosing knobs all down the Fwy...lol. They work awesome on mud though and since they are a fairly soft compound they hold the Tarmac better than most sports cars.

Tbars4... we love getting out and about but thanks to the fact that we can't figure out the problem with her lack of power we aren't getting out as much as we would like....=(

The lack of power, or rather torque, is probably due to the gearing.

When you get larger tires, you need lower gears.

A set of 4.56 gears front and back should do it.

explorer-aus... nah we just cut up the ones that the body lift kit came with and made em fit with some creative grinding. Rock solid though... wifey backed into a telegraph pole the other week and didn't budge and inch which is great for us... not so good however for the driver of a Merc SLK that was to busy on the mobile to see the huge truck in front of her... our tow ball peeled back her bonnet like a can of sardines...=(.

Anime... good suggestion but not the case unfortunately... The larger tyres made zero difference in the power or torque as we actually had that though and changed back to the old ones... no difference... We actually have a thread going for the lack of power/torque problem already and our original thought that there is an electrical issue is still holding true... no luck finding it yet though but we are loving all the idea's and suggestions for the many many members such as yourself that come up with them... many of them we have already had but there have been plenty of good ones that although we've yet to put into action might actually bring back our power...=).
