I'm planning on switching out my HID's for an LED kit before I have to get it inspected this year so I can have high beams again. They're just plug and play though, not as bright as HID and about $100-250.
And of course I'll throw in before others will: "Don't put HIDs or LEDs in your stock housing." To each their own
if an LED kit costs that much, go for a retrofit. I haven't done it myself yet but looks like it can be fun to do and the final outcome would be far better.
I did install a set of LEDs and they are much brighter than the Silverstar Ultras but I isn't a very focused light and hi bright is pointed at the top of the light poles. Are they adjustable or are the housings crap? They are new housings.
Has anyone used the complete LED housings?
Looking for ideas.
I put LEDs in my Super Duty. They are a brighter white than halogens and brighter. If you set them up right, then they are ok in a stock housing and this is coming from a guy that hates people that put HIDs in stock housings. The light doesn't scatter with the LEDs like the HIDs do. Cant speak to the ST housing but they work well in my 2010 F350.
I am going to do this right now I bought Lumenis 9007 for my 2094 Sport Trac. I'm a 64 year old lady and have a manual and never even changed a tire before but if you want it done right do it yourself haha. I give an update when I finish. Looks great tho.
I have led bulbs in our 03 trac headlights they work fantastic
Just follow the instructions and you will be fine! Make sure the bulb is Orientated properly in the housing so up it up and the bulb
Leds point to 3 and 9 o clock (like the instructions will say)
You may have to move the battery a little to get access behind the light
Good luck!
The only thing I will add is to get 6000k LED bubs and not anything higher. The 6000k bulbs are easier on the driver's eyes and oncoming traffic. They mimic daylight color temperature and are not a blue tint.
