Back on topic.. what should someone like lifeguard do?

My answer is learn to speeeeell! I don't know if one post is correct. AHHHHHHHHHHHH! Anyways, besides the lack of spelling and correct grammar, good luck on the swap. I say go d44 if you're going to wheel. I went with one under my bronco and it's alot lighter than an explorer.

I would build a completely new crossmember. That's half the fun of a SAS anyway! :D

Word on the street that the new version of our VBulletin software (which should be out soon) will have a built in spell-check!

Sew feer knot, mai frend!

lol sorry i have ben dringking alot of beer. :D i will bild a new cross mkember when i have mony, right now i just want to get to work, lol.

As long as you put the other bolt back in the crossmember. Otherwise you're just creating a pivot point. But yeah, next mod should be an x-member.

comin right along

Personally, I wouldn't even drive your Ex with the crossmember hacked up like that and with no support between the radius arm mounts, but that's just me....

Can any one tell me how to set the caster? i have no idea how to do that. thanks :).
and i think i will make a braket to go frome the trany crossmember to the ra mount i dont think i like the way it looks ether. lol

And thnks for all the imput so far, its helping alot.

I set my caster by taking both ball joints out. Then I put a dowel through the ball joints. held an angle finder on the dowel and rotated the pinion with a jack till I seven degrees of caster. Then I tacked my spring perches in place pulled the axle and welded the in. Works fine and drives straigher down the highway now then it did with the TTB.

thaks for the idea. do you think i can i just tape a dowel to the iner c? my ball joints are pressed in the tubes, and i dont have a press. :D

autozone rents the presses to pop them out. You might be able to set it by putting the angle finder on top of the ball joint and go from there. Just an idea.

You may want to invest in a balljoint/u-joint press. I bought one a while back and it's saved me a ton of time and money. I bought it on sale at Harbor Freight for like $20.

As has been said before a good rule of thumb for caster is 3-7*. I used an angle finder set on the flat portion of the inner knuckle on my D44. I am running about 5.5* of caster and the front end tracks and steers very well.

Just set the angle finder on the top balljoint and make sure its flat.

sweet thanks guys. :D wow, $20. napa wanted $300  i will have to go get one.

Ok, so i havent made alot of progress in a few days. I went to harbor freaght and got an angle finder to set the caster. :D i also got the RA mounts weldid in and the C wedge are tacked in. im haveing a hard time keeping the axle centerd, any ideas how to get it to stay?

Ok, after mesing with the track bar all morning i still cant get to axle to stay centerd. as soon as i put the tiers on and set it on the ground, it shifts to the pasinger side. any ideas why its doing that? I giuess i wasnt as redy for this as i thught. and thaks for any help. :)

trac bar isnt the right length then

The axle is going to swing with a panhard bar. Are you cntering the axle with axle hanging at full droop then putting the weight on it.That will cause it to move to the passanger side. Need to center the axle up at ride height. As the suspension compresse the axle will move to the passanger side and as it drops it will move to the driverside. that just how a suspension with a panhard works. Post more pictures and it will be easier to figure out exactly why it is doing it.
