I would have to agree with a 3" body lift. Got that slated for this summer when a friend from college comes out to help me and I move into a place with a garage. If you want a lift immediately (like I did) tt with aal is prob the right way to go. Super cheap (relatively). Though if you do go to a shop dont let them talk you into a 170 dollar aal kit. My shop tried that so I brought them in the 13120 kit I bought. Response was "oh that will work too I guess" lol. Losers

That's all shops do. Unless you go in there with your own knowledge they will tear you apart. Before I knew anything about the different ways to lift I went into a shop and they said the only way was custom fab, which meant thousands upon thousands for a little lift

Lol nice thousands I like it (not!) But I get it. They wanna get the money they can out of ya, and unless you are a specialty shop they really dont want you messin with the stock stuff. Unless it makes them tons of money :)

To keep with the thread here are a few pics of my little itty bitty lift up in the mountains last week

Hope everyone has a great day

Luke,

Do you have any problems with rubbing doing only the body lift or did you have to tweek the torsion bar at all? I have already ordered the 3" body lift but I am trying to be sure before I order my Goodyear 285/75/16 that others have used them and not had problem.

Thanks.

Luke everytime I see your Trac I get a little jealous. Very BA. Not to mention some beautiful territory. Someday we oughta meet up and wheel, tons of good places in the middle in utah. I oughta get to Zion this summer I've never been lol.

On a happy note think I'm finally sellin my cap on Saturday. Can't wait.

Moscorey if you hit up luke's registry you'll see that he did a bunch of trimming, its almost inevitability with tires past 11.5" wide.

Yes, I did have to do quite a bit of trimming - but I still rub ( tire on the sway bar, which only polishes the sway bar in that spot lol) ONLY at full lock, but even turning as far as I can without rubbing is still a tighter turn radius than most cars, and nearly as tight as my previous explorers. Also, Dauntless is right, my tires are 12.5" wide, so if you go with a skinnier tire, you might be able to avoid any/all rub.

I'm unsure as to if adding spacers would stop my rubbing or not, but it's not a big issue to me, so I just don't turn full lock (unless there's a really ass-puckering switchback on the trail lolll.) :)

Haha thanks for the kind words! Your neighborhood looks as scenic as mine! Contemplating the MOAB trip this year, in May - but probably won't make it. Maybe a Trac meetup one day!

I've been looking for a topper, wish you lived closer! :)

It would stop the rubbing on the sway bar. You'd have to do more fender trimming to the outside, though. Rubbing the say bar doesn't sound awful like tires grabbing your fender so I'd say keep 'em tucked.

I still haven't trimmed where I need to since the new tires. They only rub when diving into a sharp turn or fully stuffed off road. Haven't been on any trails yet so I haven't bothered and I never drive fast enough to run on turns (except the couple times to find the spots).

It did rain all freakin day here so I tested the new tires in our future pond which filled to about 3ft deep in the center. I just played around the outside though and got stuck once trying to climb out. Driver error though, I was trying not to get too muddy and being very gentle. Even at 36 psi these things were impressive. Can't wait to really test them on the trails this spring.

Then I took it over to the food plot to drive at a higher speed to see how rough the LR E tires are. They handled very well and were perfectly predictable. Comfortable they are not. I'll post pictures tomorrow but the overall results of that test indicate that I need to spend more money on Thule crossbars.

Too bad Luke would be more than willing to sell to a forum member. If my current offer for it falls through I may start buggin ya about it though lol. Been trying to ditch the damn thing for a long time.

OT I have been thinkin about my next set of tires (never happy with what I've got lol) I assume you like the mud terrains? Get into any snow with them? All the reviews are really positive and I worry about the softer duratracs out here in rock country.

This forum is gonna both make me really proficient at workin on my trac and much poorer lol.

I liked the KM2s alot. I never had them in snow though. They were a great all around mud terrain. Served me really well off road and have great road manners for a MT.

I was low on tread so I got new tires in December. I got Treadwright Guard Dogs. Really enjoying them so far.

The new tire a lil too heavy up on the roof??

I have the KM2s and was impressed with how they did in the snow. They have probably around 90% tread still I'd say. Granted it wasn't deep only like 3" and was a heavy, wet snow.

How about in rain at highway speeds? I have the bfg ats and they kick ass except at 60 and up they hydroplane like *****es. Course I was driving through almost an inch in semi ruts on the interstate. Squirrely and sketchy.

Otherwise love the hell out of them and was hoping the km2s would be the big dog version with a bit less of those issues. Still tough as hell but offroad awesome :) tell me if I'm on the right track. Might be the next tire lol.

Thanks. Feel so cool with all the eliters in here ;)

That or the cheap bars burned me.

Were you using the stock bars or a cheapo aftermarket? I have no idea whats on mine atm I oughta go look see if they are any good.

Aftermarket. No brand label anywhere even when purchasing. They are steel and the bars are pretty strong but the mounting is obviously week.

Thats too bad man.

I can't remember a time when I've hydroplaned in them and I drive 70 or so most of the time. I've been in some heavy rain with no issues. Kicks up road spray behind you like no other though lol.

Mine are just those aerodynamic hollow steel tubes that curve. Dunno if thats the same as what you had or not. I dont think I've ever seen a brand on them but I never really looked. I'll remember not to throw a spare up there on them ;)

Though I notice luke mounted his 12.5 duratrac under his bed. Didnt think it would fit but might go with that option eventually. Hmm or just buy a relatively cheap tire the same height but a 10.5 instead. Then I wouldnt lose clearance. I dont tend to rotate spares in anyway. Too much to think about lol.

Badass dude. Think you just made up my mind for me. Next tire 33x12.5x15 km2s. Love how mean they are. Add to that just about bulletproof sidewalls lol. Thats what I love the most about my ats.

Oh speakin of bulletproof tomorrow I'll post a pic of the guy that parks across from me. He has bfg ats too and someone obviously tried to slash his tires (very straight very deep slash on the sidewall) but the fact it didnt get through is awesome lol.
