Solved Lifts and Max tire sizes

Man that sucks with the 31's! I always order from 4wheelparts and have never had any problems getting the size tires I want. As far as the Yokos, I have had them and I didn't like them. They wore too fast for me because I live on dirt roads. As long as you mainly drive street and rotate those tires often you shouldn't have any problems with them. They ride really nice.(soft tires)

I mainly use it on road of course but I use my truck in snow and sand rather often. Shouldnt effect wear all that much.

Got them mounted couple days ago. Funny, I havent even driven it yet. They sure look good though.

I just drove it yesterday. All I can say is WOW. Its a totally different vehicle. Very soft and comfortable ride. But its not as responsive to turning. Almost mushy.

tire sizes again

ok this is my question: I have looked at the tire chart for my tire fitment but still can't seem to get the answers I need.
I have a 99 sport, I have done the TT and I have added a leaf to my existing mono leaf system and also had them re- arched, I figure I have gained between 1 3/4" - 2' of lift my question is will I be able to fit a 275 75 R16 on my stock teardrop rims or will I still need to add shackles? I plan on running BFG AT's if that matters if I can't fit them what is the max I can run?

how much would it cost for 31" tires on my 94 explorer using the stock rims? whats the cheapest place for the best tires that are not ALL out if you know what i mean. Thanks!

with stock rims.

i dont really HAVE to go with the largest size.
the price unfortunately is my main concern right now. especially since my draftsman's position will be cancelled in a few weeks,,
jobmarket in NY is quite shiddy...

is it much cheaper buying tires online? you'd have to try mounting them yourself then or bringing to a local place.what would it cost just for mounting/alignment, i cant see it really saving much$ with these considerations...plus adding credit for "hassle"
am i wrong?( hope so lol)

Noxen, you really have to do some looking around at some online tire "shops". Try 4wheelparts.com, tirerack.com(if you find some there make sure you tell them they are for an F150 or something other than an Explorer or they will not sell them to you.) You could also try tires.com. I have ordered from all of the places at one time or another. Like I said you just have to do some looking around. Tribalwind, usualy online tire places do free shipping, usually. I have always bought tires online and have no problems getting them and 95% of the time I have gotten free shipping. The tire place I get mine mounted at will dismount the old tires, mount and balance the new tires and charge me 48 bucks everytime. Also you should be able to fit 31x10.50's pretty easily on a stock explorer. Hope some of this helps yah.

they dont ask for the tire size in inches and im not sure what size 33" tires would be that fit on my stock rims.im not very car savvy

If your not lifted, 33's will not fit without cutting a lot of the front fenders. The biggest you'll be able to fit without a lift is 31x10.50-15. I am running 32's and I have 3 inches of total lift and still have rub on the the inner fender wells.

You still might have to trim the fenders a little with that amount of lift to fit 33's but I am not totally sure. It would be minimul if you did. If you are going to keep your stock rims then you could probably get away with doing 33x11.50-15 tires and you shouldn't have any problems.

32" tire test fitment

I test fit a 32x11.5 tire on my 2001 Sport today. It fit fine in the rear, but unfortunately it did not fit in the front. Even after a 1.5" TT it still rubbed the rear corner of the fender and the bumper valance. So it would require a lot of fender trimming as mentioned on the 1st page. However, it did not rub the anti-sway bar, thanks to a wheel with 3-7/16" backspacing. With these wheels, the tires will stick out a little bit, but I don't mind because IMO it looks *****in'!

are you 4wd? if you are then there is no way you can do a 3in tt. you can only do a1.75'' tt due to cv angles

Do 2wd have cv joints? Cuz if not, I can crank the torsion bars all the way, right?

2wd do not have CVs.

And sometimes 31s fit stock, sometimes they don't.
