Solved Lifts and Max tire sizes

Would 29x11.50 inch tires mounted on 15x8 inch rims fit on a stock 94 Ford Explorer Sport?

I guess this is as good a place as any to ask this question I'm interested in putting 32x11.50r15 tires on my truck. I now have stock 15x7 rims. For this setup I would get 15x8 rims.

My question: Can I go to 16" rims? Why should or shouldent I? The scenario in that case would be 265/75r16 tires.

stick with 15 if you can and dont mind it...everything is sooooo much cheaper.

I saw this post...but still posted a question about 30.3" BFG mud-terrains...

Basically have stock tires now and want to go more aggressive. As long as the tire diameter and width are about the same (+or- half inch), do I still need to add a lift? My stock tire was 30.1" diam. x 10.2" overall width.

I put some mud 31x10.50 on the stock 15x7 rim. There is some bad rubbing in the back when flexed out, and some minor rubbing in the front on the splash shield in a tight turn.
I'm wanting a 2-4 inch suspention lift, but really lost where to start. We need a suspention review thread on here or a chart for all the different available brands and how well they work.

you would prolly want atleast d60's with maybe 20" of lift......

No lift needed. Just remove fenders and cut rear quarter panels up to glass. Not a problem!!

F150 coil spacers and warrior shackles. Probably thousands of hits if you search.

according to the chart, i cant fit 32x11.5 on a tt/shackled truck, but how would 32x9.5 fit? im searching for a test rim now, but its not looking too well.

a little update...

i decided id go to sears and get them test fit and... the 32x9.5/15's fit fine. when i turn the wheels all the way it gets close to the frame[rear of tire] but it still clears it. all i have is a tt/shackles. hope this helps someone...

I found that Mickey Thompson have 34" tires that will fit on our stock 16" rims--mine are off of a 98'. I'm currently saving for them now. And how come I never here anybody else say anything about 34's?

ya Interco also makes 34" tires...i believe they are the TSL, LTB, and Truxus Radial.

i have a stock 93 explorer sport 4x4 and i am in the proccess of adding a 2 " daystar front coil spring spacer and a 2.5" add a leaf.and if needed a 2" body lift. i would like to put 33x12.5or13.5 on a 15x10or15x8 inch rim. the tires are the new interco trxus sts. my quesiton is can i do it and if so what kind of problems to exspect from it?

YOu are gonna have to go with a 3 inch body and do a little trimming.

i will need a 3" body with the 2" coil spacer and 2.5" add a leaf to fit the 33"s? or could i have the spacer and the add a leaf, with raising my tortion bars(1"-1.5") and a shackle kit. and if needed 2"body. reason for this ? is b/c i have had some big trucks and personal pref. would be to staw away from a body lift as much as possible.

you can't do a tt lift with the first gen explorers. youre stuck with the spacers and aal's. you can also put shackles in the back. you will also probably need trimming with a 3" bl

If you have a '93, you don't have torsion bars so you cannont gain anything that way. to fit 33's you will need to go with the shackles or aal in the rear and the spacers for the front. You will only gain 1.5" in the rear with the aal or shackles by themselves. If you combine them you can get about 3" or so. You will need to use a 3" body lift also to gain what you need to fit 33x12.50's on a 10" rim. You can fit 33x10.50's on a 7" rim with only a 3" body lift however.

anyone reccomend a tire just to replace mine using the stock rims? I will eventually be doing a 3" body lift at some point this year and some new fiberglass fenders as well.
