Piece of cake just uncsrew the 2 screws and replace. Look up the correct bulb # in your owners manual(I forgot what they were). I replaced mine with superwhite led's from superillumination.com, they look great and the bulbs are'nt expensive. Sometimes if you get a bad regular bulb or a blue bulb the plastic shield can melt(found that out 4 myself). While your buying replace the licensce plate and any interior lights too, makes a huge difference. There is also a great write up on replacing the overheads with led's. I took an easier approach and bought two 8led arrays and hard wired them to the domes.

Mike, I don't know about 2nd Gen's... but there's no screws for removing the puddle/courtesy lights on a 3rd Gen.

I used two thin metal tools, starting with an exacto blade to get in between the plastic light cover and the mirror housing, then used a small flat head screw driver to help pop it out.

Once you get the light cover to pop out the bulb and socket is locked into the light cover, so you just twist it about a quarter of a turn until the tabs are free to pull the socket out.

The bulb type for those lights is 168.

I went with blue LED, but make sure if you go the LED route you buy one that aims in a downward angle to get the brightest effect.

Here's a diagram:

Good info there jhard. I am going to send you a PM later today when I have a few minutes.

Jonny, here is a tutorial another member put up a while back. I bookmarked his tutorial but forget which member he is here. Anyway, it's a very nice write-up with good pics: http://hiwaay.net/~jethridg/puddle.htm

You see this is where the 01 sport shows characteristics of of both 2nd and 3rd gen, its like that dog at the shelter that nobody wants to adopt.
