M90 rebuild (rudy)

Me either. I did look, but couldn't find any info. That's a good thing.
Only issues are what we know about (heads).

I was just kinda wondering if you had seen something in your research.

I have not..
i think the only reason why he cant find anything is because nobody has ever gone that nuts with a 4L OHV

People have twin turbo the 4.0 block with the DOHC Cogswell head making over 500 rwhp before..the only issue is they don't speak English and havent posted in years..

4.0

Wow!
Those turbo's looked huge.
Over 500 HP and 460 ft lbs of torque and the block held up.
That is amazing.
I think you are on your way to beating that JD.

Id be very happy close to or around that number on boost...very very happy..

But yea there is 3 that i know of that has done over 500 rwhp with a 4.0 block and had no issues that has been reported

500 hp

What where the other two?

There is definitely something going on..pulled plugs and they all looked good in my opinion, but i hear running ethenol its hard to read but definitely looks like they are are firing. .switched to Tr6 and no difference. .runs smooth as can be,i thought i felt a miss but it went away after about 5 sec of running. .

It still has issues starting but think that different from my current issues. .it starts and runs rich for about 10 sec then jumps to lean and stays there..

Sooo this dropped into my lap..

Game plan is to take a plate and weld it to the intercooler..have the intercooler to lower manifold bolts recessed so it can be bolted down first, then have the m122 bolt to the plate thats welded to the ic..
4pointslow i need to figure out what tb i can use that bolts up and uses a cable?? 03 twin 63mm from a cobra??

Also how does the iac hook up?? I see plates that bolt over the egr hole on the back corner but how does that work?? Could i use a remote setup from the 2 tubes sticking out the left side of the charger?? Then just block the egr off?? Or use a egr one and block the 2 tubes off??

Oh no!

I think this is more than likely a world first also. A m122 on a 4.0 ohv.

i hate you lol

Yea i figured id never get the boost that i will want outa that m90 without over spinning it..this way i can make all the boost im sure this block will handle..
Trying to talk him into making all new mounts and intake so i can get the full m90 setup.
Guys, tell him its beneficial to make new stuff and seel me his old parts! Haha

To hard..I've already said if it gets to pricey or hard im gonna sell it both and go procharged. .

Its too much of a pain and gonna cost to much so im selling it

Sold the M122..

So back to problem at hand..why would i be running lean now?? Nothing has changed..thinking i may replace my O2s just in case..pretty sure they are original..

Also i pulled a sample from my gas tank to double check my math and mix...it was dead on for E50

lean

Has the truck been properly tuned for the changes (injectors etc) yet?
Once the injector data is entered you still need to correct the maf transfer function. Some will say you should not need to, but I have come to realize that when things are completely customized they don't follow the norm.

Just to name a few things,
Lean:
Vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks, fuel starvation, maf, O2 sensors, coolant temp sensor, IAT, unmetered air leaks.

My supercharged truck seems to be going lean occasionally now(don't know why), my 2004 explorer has a lean condition too and bank 2 is worse. My 2004 has the wrong injectors in it.(05 injectors) Not sure if that is all that is wrong with it.

It appears it had a bad O2..the driverside had something on the tip of it,like chunks of something and you can see where it was soaking it..this may have been giving me troubles the whole time..

Started it and it went to lean then to rich and about 10 second it leveled out at a close 1 and stayed there till warm..

O2 sensors

For what it is worth:
When head gaskets get blown, coolant (antifreeze) gets in the exhaust and coats the O2 sensors ruining them. Sometimes the sensors go bad right away, other times they last a while longer, and some don't fail at all.

Silicone is what is in old normal green anti freeze that coats the sensors.
I wonder what the effects of nitrous is on those O2's?

I definitely have blown a gasket in this truck with these O2s..that was awile ago though and honestly i dont know if any came out the exhaust and the O2 that was bad was on the driverside, the head gasket blew on the passengers side and i have true dual exhaust. .

I doubt the nitrous effects them that much, ive ran it on many vehicles that have O2s and so have others. .

Personally i think its the E50 tune, think all that extra gas and fact its ethanol may have cleaned some carbon or junk off the valves/ports/combustion chamber and ended up on the O2..also as far as i know these are original O2s and have 160k on them i believe.

Its been running pretty dam good honestly now, starts up on 3rd try or so(still needs more gas on start up) but it settles right down where its spose to be within a sec or two where before it was going lean and rich for awile

Great to hear you found it. I was wondering what was up.
How's the new motor coming along?

Still needs a final dyno tune with new motor but definitely glad its running much better, plenty good enough to break in new motor

Motor is all done, but the gaskets..the guy call back about the gaskets and again asked if i was sure i wanted to do copper.he advised against it for a street motor and suggested i get a mls gasket but we called everyone and the one company that can make custom ones said they didnt have the correct tooling to make mine and refused to purchase it..ill probably pick the motor part up next week or wait till gaskets are done

Ive had some things come up that has eaten away at my money i had saved up so honestly i dont know how ill pay for the bill..may have to take a loan out against the truck, last thing i wanna do with a baby due in less than 5 weeks..
