Has anyone done this swap? If so how easy is it?is it worth it? If anyone knows exactly what parts to get and what is needed get it done that would be the best help! Thanks everyone!
I ordered an m90 from ebay. The plan was to make 2 adapter plates to get it to fit on my 5.0.
remove upper intake manifold.
design a plate to match the lower intake.
design a plate to match the underside of the super charger.
the plate should also be designed to mate to eachother.
design an elbow to connect the EGR and trottel body to the supercharger.
make a plate that will support the nose of the supercharger and connect to the front of the block. It should have 2 pullys on it to direct the belt.
get a new belt probably 114 inches+
connect vacume lines
connect boost gauge
change pully to a 2 inch
get tuned
I would draw everything on autocad and take it to the laser cutters. They gave me an estimate of 50 dollars a plate. Only becasue i was getting a small quanity. If i got 10 they would only be 10 dollars a plate.
This project would have been done by september first, I could have been enjoying an extra 100 HP, but the postoffice lost my package on august 14th. I am still waiting to get my money back. It been like 2 months.
so that kit comes with everything...except blower itself. so i would still need to get injectors, mass air meter and a tune though right? anything else i'm missing?
You would more then likely have to upgrade the fuel pump as well. maybe you would have to upgrade the ignition system (Coil packs, wires, plugs) but i'm not sure that would be necessary.
rpcastor kit is the way to go, I love mine.
There is alot of work to be done. This is not your daily driver is it?
I have two other vehicles, besides my supercharged 98 2door, one is a 98 4door explorer which is nice to have around for testing purposes and the other is a 2000 ranger (4.0 ohv though, bummer).
If you have any questions after reading my thread and sig let me know but be patient cause I work alot of double shifts and cant get to the computer sometimes for a week or so.
yea it is my dd, looking for something to make it alittle quicker, i like to do things that you don't see very often but at the same time, i have 2 kids and a wife so financially, the blower might be a problem but i still would like to get somethings to make it quicker, exhaust tune etc..any ideas?
LOL i know how it goes...does anyone have any 1/4 mile times with these upgrades done?or maybe an estimated time?i was thinking of ordering an electric fan as well and the mass air meter and throttle body combo. does anyone sell the mid pipe with no cats?
