I have read all of the different types of cleaners everybody uses to clean the MAF. What I need to know, is one cleaner better than another or are they all the same. I want to use whatever is BEST and the SAFEST for the sensor. I sure don't want to damage it.

Radio Shack, electrical contact cleaner

Or Denatured Alcohol if you can find it, that is what the Snap-on bulletin calls for.

I used radio shack cleaner on mine and it works great.

I have always used sensor safe carb cleaner with no issues.

I use electrical parts cleaner - got it at Home Depot. I hate Radio Shack ;)

Is all the same stuff, methanol, makes no diff where you get it

Thank all of you very much!! Now, I am sure what to get!!!!!

**** I just used rubbing alcohol

Open hood, look to your left where the air intake hose meets the filter box. Unplug MAF then you'll need special Torx bits to get out the two screws that hold it in.

If you go to http://www.crcindustries.com/auto/ you will see that they are making a cleaner specifically for MAF cleaning. Don't know about you guys but I think I will see if I can find a can of this stuff and give it a try.

I use their electrical contact cleaner. My guess is that it's the same stuff, but they'll charge more for the MAF specific label. ;)

I used an alcohol prep, my wife is a nurse and these things are everywhere, partly because I wanted to see the dirt I was removing after 65k miles. OK so it came up clean but if the air filter is doing it’s job shouldn’t it be clean? Yes I feel better knowing it is clean and the computer is reset.
