Matt's '92/'99 4X4 V8/4R70W swap!

I used one from an '88 Thunderbird with 3.8 engine. It has the proper firewall plastic piece and ends. Oh ya, and it's the perfect length. With your throttle body though, do you have the "knob" on the throttle lever to clip the cable end over like the Mustangs/Thunderbirds?

Yep.

Got rained out tonight but got plenty done.

It should be runnin tomorrow but I won't be able to drive anywhere till I get a throttle cable.

I would have tried the Explorer 302 cable, but yes those V6 Thunderbird cables are very long also.

I know exactly were I can find a exv8 at the junkyard on Monday. I will check that cable first.

Well shes crankin' over but the wiring's not done yet.

my power steering hose is much too short to reach, though it has the right fittings.

I forgot my my steering fluid reservoir is busted by the junkyard so i need to get another.

Heres some pictures.

I never get any time to work On the truck on weekdays. Sucks.

The only thing holding me back from starting it is the trans being empty. Which I need cause I still got to hook up my shifter linkage and it's easiest to dial in with the pan off.

Maybe I can wake up early enough to tackle that but I doubt it.

Finally got paid today. Ordered a second gen PS hose so heres fingers crossed that the fittings are the same.

Will hit the JY tomorrow for the ps reservoir and abs module.

Well the piece a crap junkyard I go to decided to close today.

and nowhere else is open or has a v8explorer.

I found a throttle cable on a mid 90's f150 that should work. I think it had a 351windsor.

I guess ill have to jury rig the reservoir till Monday.

It's too late to test start the engine tonight. I'll try in the morning

It's Aliiiiiivvvveeee! Muahahahahaaaaaaa!

Video will be posted around midnight.

Here It Is Folks, The Big One, The One You've All Been Waiting For!

The camera handled the sound Ok, but its nothin to hearing it in real life.

I am very tempted to go fire it up right now so my neighbors can enjoy it as well. :biggthump

Sorry the video was short but i was gonna be late for work.

Unfortunately my header paint isnt holding up. Bubbling and smoking and so forth. But oh well, ugly headers are at the bottom of the problems list.

I have one enigma, when you first turn the key to the on position, the fuel pump runs constantly, instead of just for a few seconds like it used to. any ideas about that?

Congratulations man, I know this has been a long time coming and has to feel great to finally hear it run after all of the time you've put into it. And you beat Spdrcer34:D I do have to dock some points on one issue though:( You were an hour late posting the video:D

Matt congrats!!!
Man I am so hapy for you, and myself because I can now go to bed. Keep a guy waiting will ya.

OK, I know you told me , but I do not recall which year PCM you are using, and , which fuel pump, year of fuel tank?

thanks guys! sorry on the delay. i was having fun listening to it again. i didn't think you would stay up for it. thanks again!

not rollin yet but soon.

Jon, the PCM is a '96, the fuel tank and pump are stock '92.(I still have the 5.0 pump you gave me, thanks again!) the fuels system is a return style. hooked right up with no modifications!

keep in mind, i don't have much at all wired up, just the bare bones to make it run. i'm wondering if there is some circuit or other that maybe tells the pcm that the fuel pump relay is closed and that its running constantly cause it isn't getting that signal.

The fuel pump relay "signal" should be checked at the PCM, with the fuel pump in the circuit, and out of the circuit. see if it is actually switching or possibly shorted and constantly in the "on" state.

I do believe the prime cycle is timed by the pcm itself.
