One of the heat sheilds that I had covering my spark plug wire slipped down and the wire melted against the header a little. It looks like two of the layers melted and it's down to whatever the black layer is. I don't see any of the actual wire, but it was shorting out against the header. I've attached a picture. I've got it wrapped up in electrical tape and everything seems fine now, no more mis-fires. But should I go ahead and replace it with one of my old wires (about 80Kon them), or will it be fine with the electrical tape?

Will it be fine to run all new wires except 1?

that sucker looks fubared to me, thats a deep burn, I would switch it

IMHO....switch it w/ old wire.....elec. tape isn't enough.

Aloha, Mark

K, I went ahead and swithed it. Thanks for the advice.

I had the same problem after I installed the Torque Monster Headers. Only my wire lasted a couple of days before it looked like that, and it burnt despite having the heat sock over it. Good call replacing it, the engine sounds terrible and pops/backfires when on 7 cylinders. Never a good thing.
