My 2000 XLT 4x4

I really like that Grille, reminds me of the 2000-ish F-150/s with the honeycomb grille.

Nice work- that looks more in place and better than, well, any of the stock Ford grilles IMHO!

thanks! i agree :D

Hey grant. I'm fairly new to cars but know a fair amount. However, I've never read up on lifting trucks until now. I've been thinking about giving my 2000 4x4 Ex a 3" lift and found this thread. Perfect. Your Ex looks amazing and I would like to do the same on mine. Can you give me a few tips to start out with and how you did yours?

Well Ill give you some links to threads on here since there is A LOT of information about lifting our model of explorer.

Here is the first one (you should be able to find most everything about what you want to do in here, just take your time and read all of it) : http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=208483

I did the 3" body lift and the Warrior shackles. Most people do a torsion twist too (you'll find this in the link), but I just decided not to.

...Remember, the search button at the top right is your friend ;)...

I've been using it quite a lot actually. Just better to get suggestions directly from someone who has done it ;). Haha, thank you.

no problem! Just use PB blaster or liquid wrench on the body bolts and all other bolts. itll make your life alot easier. And you may have seen that some people had to make front bumper brackets but mine that came with the kit fit and I didnt have to make any. I just had to make my own rear ones out of 1/4" plate. And make sure you have some big vice grips because the body bolts get stubborn and you have to hold the body mount because thats what the bolt threads into.

First of all, I love your ex. It has the perfect stance in my opinion! Sweet grille as well.

I just had a question. I have a 2000 Explorer 4x4 as well, and am wanting to do the 3" body lift with the same size tires as you. What gears do you have and what kind of mpg are you getting after the lift/tires?

I have 4.10 gears which I have read are good for 32 and 33" tires. I just want to have an idea of the mpg I'll be getting before I go with it.

Thanks

thanks :biggthump

I have 4.10 gears as well. It depends on the day or how Im driving but right now with 35psi in my tires I might be getting around 14 or 15 :dunno: Im not really sure its just a guesstimate

yeah I usually get to a little over 200
