I can see it now: A maroon Park Ave, Sitting on 33's, Calf deep in soupy mud...We can make it happen. All you need is some extra truck parts, Patience, and a real big fire wrench.

Now you and your daughters need to get in that jeep or whatever and come join some real wheelers from the Explorer forum, she has not seen anything yet!

Truckhaven 07?
Moab 07?

Those places will BLOW YOUR MIND

My vote is keep your Ex the way it is, pick up a BII or first gen Ex or ranger on the cheap cheap and lets get started

410s got the best idea, BII or first genx or ranger :D.

First gen Explorer sports have the best wheel base for all around type wheeling frmo what I have seen, Toyota trucks when SAS's are bithin, tough and lightweight with lots of ground clearance.

But NOTHING wheels like a bronco, just takes ALOT to get a BII up to the same level as an EB.
One of the most capable trucks I have ever wheeled with was a Toyota short cab truck with a simple leaf sprung SAS, low gears, big tires and a roll cage...jeeps are good too if you like that sort of thing, but my blood runs blue...

Your wife can read?

OK
So this is my official" desire to offroad" or
"buildup" thread

I am trying to consider all options, so I thought I'd throw this in.
I look at this every day, it sits 11 blocks from my house. The mounty could pull it home no prob. This is important.
600 could have it. Engine is supposedly strong, but trans blown.
Take alook, tell me what you think

Looks like a good start to me! There should be a thread on here about rebuilding the transmission.
