Truck was running fine, when we returned from the game the engine turned but no spark (or no fuel). I was listening for the fuel pump, but dont recall what is sounded like before so I am not sure if it is shot, and not sure where the shrader valve is on this 4.0. I am thinking one of the following: Fuel pump, ignition coil (but normally it still might spark) or possible activiation of fuel pump cut off. I am stumped.

...if you don't hear the fuel pump whir when you turn the key to the on position, it may be the fuel pump relay located in your relay box under the hood...;)

Its the fuel pump....

It is the fuel pump....time to go shopping. Looks like my saturday will be spent under the truck. Just need to drop the driveshaft and hopefully the bolts will turn.

Did you fix the fuel pump? Was that the prob?

This weekend

I will be fixing it this weekend. Just deciding whether I go original or aftermarket. 149K miles but it is in good shape and I only want to do this once. I cannot believe how much the original part is ($300). The fuel pump on my mustange was $60 or so.

Is it a 4 door? If its made in us or canada, I can get one for you for $166 from my parts supplier in Monee. Its about 20 mins south of I-80, right off I-57. I just talked to Jim, hes the owner. Lincoln Plaza Auto (708) 534-5566

It's made in the US... They never made Explorers in Canada...

Got the fuel pump replaced

It was an OEM for $229. This forum was great for getting the information needed to do this. THere is a sticky that help avoided all the pitfalls. I am now inspired to get the error codes cleared/repaired. (see my post on "name this part".)
