When I asked for opinions about it here, I got mostly negative responses, but when I asked the Ranger forum, I got mostly positive responses. Two different breeds I guess.

That is because early Rangers had it like that, so I would think they would be partial to it.
Personally, I would put it front and center, but if you like it that way better, that is what matters ;)

wow, paint looks really good...i love waxing black, looks really good.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is clay lube?

Claying is when you pass a clay bar over the paint surface to pick up contaminants that have bonded to the paint. The lubricant is whatever you spray onto the paint to allow the bar to slide.

i couldnt find any zymol here so i polished mine with maguires x scatch i was quite impressed got most of the scratches out. may be a couple of more times and it will be looking half as good as yours

I doubt it's worth what they say... but if you run a high profile detailing shop er something it might be... it's a lifetime supply of the product... I'd love to get a sample of it and try it on one half of my hood and see what it's like...

for that price the mud should slide right off :p

What you're getting there isn't at all durability its look. All protectant products are different and they all give a different look, I'd bet that stuff looks amazing and really deepens the color of the paint.

Matey, Unfortunately the Scratch X is a makeup product, it doesnt actually get rid of any of the scratches, when you wash it they'll be back. You need something like Meguias Dual Action Cleaner Polish or a swirl mark remover to actually remove them.

BAH, now you're making me want to get my Explorer repainted. It's paint has faded badly and the hood is ROYALLY screwed up. Luckily my dad works at a shop that does alot of paint and body and a friend of my dad's has a media blaster and is doing my '61 F100. Hopefully next month when I get a newer pickup I can give my X some TLC.

God I feel so lazy. I dont use any of those. lol. Maybe i need to start to though.
Hehe, I feel the same way. I've had my truck for 1.5 years and I haven't waxed it once. I've probably washed it 10 times and never detailed it. It still shines tho. :)

Detailing isn't for everybody, thats why there are pros ;)

Seriously though, waxing the car is neccisary. The prepwork, claying polishing and compounding are soley for look, but wax protects the paint from oxidation and keeps it true to color. If you ever have a panel repainted, it probably will not match because the paint hasn't been protected.

The thing for you to do is use a sealant like Zaino or Klasse you'll only have to use once a year.

Kaino Rules

Bought a new truck and decided to try Zaino after everything good I heard about it, in fact I dont recall hearing anything negative about it. My truck is white so it really takes a shine to see a reflection in it, unlike black. I did the clay thing and one coat of Z2(?) the scratch remover, then a coat of the gloss enhancer, then a coat of Z5, then hte enhancer again, and got about 4 coats on. That bugger shined like the sun on a cloudless day. That was back in 2001, havent touched it since, in fact went all winter without washing it, when I finally got around to washing it, the paint shined like the day I polished it, it wasnt as smooth as it was when I polished it, but a quick going over with the gloss enhancer solved that problem. No more waxing for me, uhuh no way, zaino was worth every penny. One thing I do know though is not to use it on an older car with lots of scratches in the clear coat, especially a black one, you see them all! But they are still the shiniest scratches in town! :) Used to use Meguirs Gold, but now that I tried the Zaino there is no going back.

BTW, 5 coats on an F150 and I used a little under 1/4 bottle of polish, this stuff goes a long way.

Not these scratches! :D

I got some shallow (looks like cat scratches) on my hood that arent deep at all but i do want to get them out. What way would you recommend to get them out? How much that Zaino system usually run for the whole shebang?
