I went up north to Hawks, Mi its about 4 and a half from Jackson, Mi
Lots of two tracking on 450 acres!
The drive up I got 21mpgs, I can't complain! I had probably 600lbs of gear and accessories.
On my way back down I got 20mpgs, still pretty good
300 miles each way!
Two trackin was great! Except when I got real deep. REAL deep.
The pedal was held to 4 thousand RPMs, and I was doing probably 15 mph
4x4 high was engaged
I was rolling through just fine, and then I hit my previous path....
8 inches deep of mud, the bottom was clay, and it was full of water
it was a mess
I needed a tractor to come pull me out, but it was a chevy, dodge, or foreign!
A good old Oliver tugged me out.
If I get new tires it would save me the troubles this winter!
I also learned my speedo is about 3mph rich compared to what garmin, my message center, and my iphone. 75 and my speedo says 78.
This trip helped me learn a lot about my explorer and I would recommend a trip simmilar for you!

I plan on doing a write up soon about how i pulled my running boards and how to clean the underside of your vehicle after you get real dirty!
I might do one of replacing the 1 1/4 inch receiver as well with a 2"

ENJOY!

Looks like a fun trip!

One trick i learned back in the day when my ride was only rear drive and open diffs, manual 5speed no less - is to hit the brakes while the tire is spinning. Its kinda of like using your heel on the brake (or other foot) while you give it gas. In my case i had to let out the clutch with the left foot. It might help a little, but not if your frame/suspension is hung up.

Looks fun though.

JR i might start trying that concept if i ever end up in the same situation!
