I've been slowly trying to fix up my 91, I've replaced the thermostat, radiator ,water pump, the fan clutch, the fan, alternator ,tension pulley, upper and lower radiator hose, radiator cap, idle air control, belt. After installing the water pump, clutch and fan I developed this strange sound that comes and goes. I couldnt post video here so I added my YouTube short video link of the sound. I don't see the fan rubbing the shroud, or does it sound like steam coming out from somewhere like a tea kettle sound? Its not the alternator as the sound was also with the previous Alternator. When I rev engine it stops and comes back at times. Any clue ?

A/C clutch slipping?

Have you tried the stethoscope trick?

Have you tried the stethoscope trick?
Yeah and it's not the pulleys, ac clutch. I do hear it louder when using the stethoscope but strangely when I place it on the heater hose

Wowee! Sure sounds like a crappy alternator lol but since it’s not

Your best bet is to remove the belt and spin everything by hand look for any looseness or grinding it could be any one of the pullies, idler, tensioner, power steering, ac clutch, waterpump
Make sure the crank sensor is clear if the crank damper
Make sure the fan is not hitting shroud should not even be close enough to wonder

Spinning all by hand is the best way to find this noise

That’s a new one on me, closest noise I’ve heard to that would be a bad alternator bearing

What 410 said but if you don't feel anything wrong with the pulleys after removing the belt, connect the intake back up and fire it up (cold) to see if the noise returns with no accessories running. Should confirm what path to go down, accessories or engine.

While noise is occuring, unplug iac.see if sound immediately stops. That does sound like an iac goes woo reed type sound.
