Is there any way I can get just the bulb sockets for the map lights? I called ford and they want me to order the whole assembly for $74. If that's the case, I'll figure a way to wire my own lighting.

If you go to a salvage / junk yard you should be able to find whatever you need.
You may need to buy more than you need ( whole assembly ) but it will be a lot less $.

No, you have to buy the whole assembly. I has one of the bulbs go out in mine and went to Autozone and got a replacement. A few minutes after installing it, the base melted so I was in the same boast as you. I found out that you have to either buy the assembly, or buy the whole console. I just made some LEDS and used those as replacements. See my Cardomain page.
