a lot of money and work. It's been done a few times. For that money you can have a v8 or a 4 cyl diesel. If you are going to spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours for custom work, do something with more gains, better reliability, and better fuel economy.

Would the V8 be better on fuel?

Some are. modern 4.8l can get 25+ mpg. Granted that's in a smaller/lighter car. but the 4.0 in any car won't get that.

The 4.8 is a V8? and will a more modern engine mix with a older tranny?

I'm just saying for the money and time it's going to take to use an SC reliably, you can pick almost any other motor you want in there.

If it were me look'in at the money, it be a 1.8L TDI 4cyl turbo. I just missed a great deal on one.
You can find 5 cyl diesels from Mercs in the cars for under $2000. 289s in the stangs are dirt cheap. My buddies Mustang is fast as hell, he has less than $5k in the whole car.

Ask Spdrcer34 how much he spent on his SC.

What size engine is a 289? will a more modern engine mix with an older tranny, is a 4.8L a v8?

What SC is going to get for $6-9K, <250 RWHP the 4.6 made 390 in the 04 Cobra, lowest output was 260 in 95 Lincolns. 302 (5.0) in 2012 made 444 HP/380 ft torque.

v8 swap

It's not that I'm against superchargers. I like them. If I had one lying around I would probably try and make it fit. But when you figure that a super charger kit costs the same as a new hipo crate engine, it's not worth it. when you consider that you can buy a used running or f150 for half that, and get the wire harness, ecu and all the little bits, it just isn't worth it.

well thank you very much and I never really realized how much something like that would end up costing but you are right you could buy a used f150 for less or a fairly new on for the same price
