thanks for contributing first off ill quickly tell you my plans:

be big enough for 33-35 12.50s
sit higher then a stock bronco
4.10s or 4.56s (please input with this i've researched and want the 4.56 but alot of people tell me i'd be overgearing..ill will be doing moderate trails and mudholes and such, nothing too too hardcore, no rocks and ill also be doing mostly city but a decent amount of highway driving)
shift kit in the trans
i want the lift combination that will allow me to do this type of driving with the least bother (i kno ther will be problems no matter wut) but should i go with the 4in or 5 or 5.5? i've heard of all these suspension lifts..can yout ell me where to get them..
also, shuold i go with a 2 or 3 in BL..if any? how horrid will the body roll and aerodynamics be?
pretty much tell me your 2 sense no matter wut its concering with all this..also please provide links or wher i can find these lifts..esepcially the bigger suspension..i'd liek to start with the biggest suspension i can befor i resort to BLs..
thanks again

the biggest suspension lift is techiclly the 8" made for the ranger....but the biggest one that you really see on the sight is the 6" with SOA in the rear and that will clear 35's most likley.....as for gears if your going to be doing alot of higway 4.10's but if it is mostly trails and the ocasinal around town stuff 4.56 all the way. That gives you the extra oomph. The BL would not be necessary to clear 33's with a 6" or a 5.5".

where can you get that 8" for the ranger? ive never seen it

yeah im def interested in the 5.5 or 6..wher can i get these lifts?

also..im doing mostly around town driving..some highway..and moderate trailing

bump..need input soon please

4x4 sites like 4wheelparts or say sky jacker.com.....look around online or a local 4x4 shop.

well i know that..but i wasnted some specific examples from anybody..especially with experience with these lifts..

I'm running 4.10s in my '93 xlt..
4" Skyjacker class II (ranger/explorer lift) (has extended Radius Arms)
3/4" Body lift I've had to trim 2" of metal at the rear of the front fender wells to prevent rubbing.
33x12.50 BFG tires. see truck link in sig for more specs.

I have retained the stock front and rear sway bars and my Explorer rides better than new.. I have no fear or issues with any death wobble, or tippy sensation. The 4.10s are great all around decent performance and highway fuel economy, but if you're getting any bigger than 33s or are into any moderate off-roading then you'll want some 4.56s.. The 4.56s will get you much better low end performace great for off-road and city driving, but highway economy won't be that great (since you'll be pulling a lot more rpms to get up to 65mph+). Basically it comes downt to how much fuel economy you're willing to live with. The 4.10s are averaging 15mpg with the above setup and I would imagine 4.56 would drop that a few mpg...

thanks a lot..yeah i'd be doing mostly city and moderate trailing..you've got a 4in suspension and a 3/4 body lift and needed to trim for 33s? im surprised..

where are the full kits for the 5.5 in suspension kits on the sploders..i found one one on summit i think..any better prices anywher?

...you've got a 4in suspension and a 3/4 body lift and needed to trim for 33s? im surprised..
The trimming is mainly due to my 15x10 rims (3.75" BS). As you can see in the diagram below the same BFG tire will be over 3/4" wider on a 10" rim as compared to an 8" rim.

well thats detailed lol..awesome job man..in your opinion is that 4in enough for wut im looking for?

If you want 35s and be taller than a stock bronco then no, 4" is not big enough.

[hijack]Hey ExporeRanger, please be sure to attend the next Meet & Greet. You are probably 15 minutes from Bare Bones.

the one in ellicott city off 40?i work in the st johns plaza!...what meet and greet is this? im def interested

i want 33 1250s prolly..but with good clearance..so a 5.5 SOA is the way to go?

Yes and No.. Each vehicle is slightly different. This coupled with the variety of lift options (suspension & body) and rim/tire combinations makes an answer more subjective than definitive. :dunno:

In my case I went with the 4" lift because
1) My vehicle is 80% daily driver so on-road manner are needed.
2) Vehicle laws in my state (MA) limit my suspension lift to 4.5".
3) I wasn't concerned about cutting sheet metal, and planned for it. :hammer:

I researched/planned my lift over several months and new exactly what I was getting myself into. This enabled me to make appropriate choices for what I was looking for. I chose a SkyJacker 4" Class II lift because it was Highly rated, strong, durable, and can be set to 4" or 6" with only minor modifications

Things to be aware of off the top of my head:
1) New shocks (with longer travel) will probably be needed.
2) New Gearing
3) Tires and maybe new rims.
4) Rusted brake lines may need to be replaced
5) U-joints should be replaced (especially if they're original)
6) New location for spare tire as the stock location will only fit a 30-31 max.
7) A lot of members have gotten a 4" lift with 33s, got hooked on wheeling and wanted to step up to 35s...

A little insight into your questions is in order...

1. Tall lifts are for show - trail trucks use just as much lift as is needed to get proper suspension articulation and tire fitment. Body modifications to fit larger tires are better for trail use than being tall. For every inch you raise stuff up, you end up spending more money and breaking faster because of the more severe angles and leverage on everything. That, added to the fact that you will also now tip over easier on off-camber hills makes your "big" truck a waste of money.

2. The amount of suspension articulation is the real issue, and not all lifts give more than stock. I'd rather be sitting lower to the ground and be able to stuff a tire down into a crack or hole than be way up there and carrying that same tire. That is, unless you like being  a lot. In that case, why worry about using the sawzall in the first place.

3. Go 4.56 gears and don't look back. Unless you regularly run over 100 on the freeway you'll be much happier. 4.56 gears with 33 tires = 3018 RPM in 3 @ 65 MPH. OD drops you right into where you want to be on the freeway. I'm currently running 4.10s with 33s and I need to go 65 or over to actually use OD unless I lug the engine.

Check out BDS for lift kits. They are fully warrantied, including springs, for life - period. PM me if you need a dealer.
