I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, all I really know is that I want to put a lift on my Explorer and put big tires on it so it looks bad-ass. I could care less if it can off-road effectively, as long as it looks sweet.

I don't know where to start. Here are some of the questions that I have.

What size rim should I buy?

(Depending on previous answer) Which size tires fit which size rims?
ie...how do I know which tires will fit 15X8 or 15X10.5 rims etc.....?

Most of the driving I do is highway driving, which tire is best for looking cool, and doesn't suck ass on the highway?

What are the biggest tires I can put on an Explorer (if I install a 3" body lift kit)?

Those are all I can think of right now, but if anyone would like to explain to me what else may be necessary I would really appreciate it. Unfortunately, this is a subject I'm totally ignorant in.

Thanks all.

J

Check out "Shocks, suspension, lift kits" and "Tires and wheels", in the furoms colum. You could get two inch shackles and two inch front spring spacers and fit a set of 32' tires on for fairly cheap. Or you could spend more money and go with a nice 8' lift with a set of 35s or so. Hope this helps you out. Good luck!

For looks, start off with a body lift and getting your stock suspension, brakes, and steering up to par. Add a 2" lift with coil seats up front and shackles int he back.
Then save up for tires and re-gear.

:) Ta da, lifted gen I, should be able to fit 33's easy with a 3" bodyt lift and 2" suspension.
