find out what gears u have stock and what size tire u want to run so u know if u must change gears or can get by with what u got once u lift and how much lift u will need to do it.

3.73

My exploder has 3.73 both front and rear and i was hope to run at least 32" tires what is the cheapist way to lift my explorer about 3"

cheapest way to get 3" is a body lift. if u can install yerself. otherwise cost goes up alot. u want 32's? 3.73's won't be a good combo... especially with a manual tranny. power will suffer greatly. but its possible to make it work. u'd really want 4.56's with 32/33" tires. what all do u plan to do with it. actually use it or is it for looks? how good do u want it to be? u could throw a body lift on it and put yer 32's on and be done with it but it leaves lots and lots of room for improvement.

for off roading

i plan to get pretty serious with my explorer but not crazy serious how much and wear would i get a 3" lift is a block lift sufficent? and could i get the tires and the lift and change the gears later on or will it hurt my transmission and or engine.

You can't put a block in the rear to lift it. Your axle is above the spring. If you are going to get pretty serious I recomend a 4" lift and 33s 4.56 gears with a locker in the rear and L/S up front. Not cheap but it can't be to be a serious wheeler.

You would be very happy with that setup.

If you search around you will find a ton of info that will come in handy. It will take a lot of reading on your part, but will be well worth the time. Oh and welcome to the site. :)

smell

my x has a funny smell like unburnt gas i think it is because of a bad spark plug it also bogs out al little when i press the accelorater above 1500 rpm.

The cheapest setup for you is front coil spacers, rear spring shackels ($120 parts). It will give you about 1 1/2 to 2-inch lift. You can fit 31s or 32s if you trim the fenders. Then a locking rear differntial. A set up like this is appropriate with you level of driving experience. Modifications take some time to get use to and to learn how to best use them.

Also if you spend some time on this site you can learn what other people have done, how they liked the modifications, and hook up with people to wheel with.

people im my area

Is there a fourm on this site were people meet up for vents or just get together?

thats what i would go with... though i'd really like more than just 4" lift. maybe 5" or 6" its jus personal preference. its not needed to fit them. its simply for a little more ground clearence and it helps the looks.

your raw fuel smell is likely a bad canister purge solenoid, try a search.

ive got a 93 xlt 3.27 gears 5 spd stock and fit 31x10.5's under it with very little problems although the power factor sucks needs to be regeard badly
