My engine is going out in my 99 2dr 5sp 4.0ohv timing chatter and main bearing both I'm afraid. So I am looking to source a v8 from an older f150 or explorer. Looking for a thread on v8 swaps and manual trans options

You’re gonna want to get it out of an Explorer. Best bet would be a 99-01. A whole donor vehicle is best since you’ll need wiring, transmission, transfer case, and the like.
