I can't wait - see everyone there!

Ashli hasn't had the pleasure of meeting Char, has she?

Fine, then I'll add a couple more things: a winch, a new front bumper, a 12V accessory outlet, and some new tranny cooler lines. ;) Oh, and sway bars? What are those :D

Oh, and sway bars? What are those

I agree with you, but the though of driving my flexy truck amost 1500 miles without the sway bars is a bit daunting...

Mine have been holding down the grass behind my garage for the past year or so - they work best there, but I figured that for a long freeway drive at high speeds (and the wind on the praries) I would reconnect them with disconects for the ride if I have to drive the truck...

BTW, I am runnig an XJ front lift coil and it is pretty soft... W/o the bars, I can grab the roll bar and move the truck almost to the stops pretty easily. That's what happens when you stuff 22" of soft coils in the place of about 16" of solid Ford rock coils.

Also, got the new 33's on today - they look good. Not too much trimming to do to make them stuff. My rears are already flared and bent - I may have to trim them a bit, and I'll see how the front stuffs - I might make tube fenders for the front end ala Jeep flatties - but I have to see about time issues... too much to do yet. Someone come and help me get the tranny rebuilt... I keep putting it off and the truck isn't going anywhere until that gets done...

I cant wait for friday, is this gonna be the first wedding at an EF event? Congrats Gerald and I feel honored to be there to witness such a happy moment.

:chug: :chug: :chug:

Congrats Gerald and Ashli(X)

oh well

Well everyone...hate to be the first loser to back out, but I gotta start makin ehem...responsible choices. Turns out with further research that finals week begins on may 24th for me. not a good combo if I break down, plus I know I won't wanna study instead of wheel, or drink beer around the campfire. I gots plenty of time in my life when I get a liddle older to go to Moab I guess...I feel like an old man sayin sheeit like that already, but hey...ya gotta do whatcha gotta do. :(

:chug: HAVE FUN!!! :chug:

Thanks for the congrats Patrick, and congrats to you for figuring out the puzzle :)

Sorry to hear that Josh but we perfectly understand, there's always another year..... we do this every year, and many that live closer go several times during the year.

Dignan PM'd me and expressed interest and suggestions for modified runs like Steelbender and Elephant Hill, hopefully he'll log on soon and post. We do need some input from the non-BigDawgs on what they would like to spend their time running on Saturday and Sunday, how about it?

Speaking of Group Dinner, what do we have planned, if anything, so far?

Last year was such a disaster that I was thinking of going back to the Branding Iron and the "Lesbian Karaoke Bar" :D If you've got another idea I'm all ears, but the Branding Iron has always seemed to take fairly decent care of us as a big group, at least much better than last year's fiasco at that other place...... do you have an alternate idea of a place to handle a group of 35 or so?

Gerald,

What was the other place?

I never have liked the branding iron. Somthing about that guy trying to sing all the time and waiting 2 hours for food....

Woody's pizza seems to do a good job for large groups.... That gets my vote....

Fat City Smokehouse..... They moved down the street to a bar. When we showed up they had given all of the tables we reserved to their regular customers and we didn't have a place to eat, Rick finally chewed out the manager enough to sort of work us around their other customers, then they got pissed at us because we had the gall to expect that since they took our reservation that we should have had a place to eat there, so the service became the worst I've ever experienced, and then it went real downhill after those high points...... my memory may be a little fuzzy, but that's the gist of it. It was a bad dream, simply unreal.

As for Branding Iron, that's why I said I'm all ears.... I'm willing to try somewhere else. I don't know if everyone would be in the mood for pizza(?) There's that Mexican restaurant on the north side of town, pizza might work, we can do some research. I do remember trying to get reservations for a large group a couple of years ago and struck out and that's why we ended back up at the Branding Iron again.

The Chuck Wagon is an option. From what I understand seating is outdoors. The Chuckwagen is located North of town very close to the trailhead for Gemini Bridges, Goldbar Rim etc...

I always liked the Branding Iron, although the last time we were there (2002) wasn't quite as great as the year before. I won't even talk about Fat City. :shoot:

If I remember right the Branding Irons prime rib is tougher than round steak.:(

They have a McDonalds, we could all drive thru or walk thru then go eat at a parking lot. LOL
You said you were looking for suggestions. :D

Pizza or Mexican sound good to me! I would even prefer McD's like Perry said, over a steak or ribs place. :)

About those trail suggestions; the only ones that I know fairly well and could lead are Elephant Hill and Fins & Things, and maybe Steelbender. I would also like to try Kane Creek, but I personally have never been on that trail. I am open for anything new, but my favorite is probably Elephant Hill. Not only is it one of the best wheeling trails in Moab, but it has some great short hikes to some incredible scenary like the confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers, and Chesler Park, which is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my entire life. It is a pretty long trail especially since it is a ways out of town. The first time I ran it the sun went down and we did it in the dark and my dad missed the turn around point and had to do it backwards. So at least I can wear my T-shirt that says, "been there, down that, backwards and in the dark". I guess that must happen a lot in moab if they have a market for that shirt. Anyway, we could start from the other end and get the hard part out of the way, so that even if it did get dark it would be on the end that is easily navigated.

I was looking here at some trails and copper ridge, Behind the Rocks Tip-Toe,
looks like an interesting one to do.

http://www.4x4now.com/mu4wd.htm

anyway, just suggestions. :)

Dignan,

ya we did exactly those same trails last year (which was my first time to moab)
"Elephant Hill and Fins & Things, porcipine rim, kane creek

i think we did fins & things & porcipine rim one day then headed to elephant hill the next, and then a few of use headed to kane creek and a few went to steel bender the next day.

i have to agree with you elephant hill was pretty cool. :)
