My thought is that our offroad forums have become too scattered. We started out with one forum for all of our event planning. It seemed we were getting more people to our events when that was the case. With all the separate sub-forums for specific geographic areas I think that some people who might be interested in a road trip, just never look into all the different sub-forums to see what's going on where.

Personally it's a bit much for me... I really have a hard time keeping track of what's going on where.

So... my question is, should I merge all of the posts from the US based subforums back into the main Offroad event forum?? I would leave the Canadian, and UK sub-forums separate.

Whaddya think guys???

I vote yes. I think you're right about people not thinking to look in all the subforums and missing out on something that they could have attended.

..Sounds good to me...:biggthump

..It's also easier to subscribe to one sub forum for update notifications (can't do currently) than it is to umpteen different sub forums..

..I like to be up to date on what trips to plan according to what EF runs are currently happening in the States..:burnout:

..Plus I believe the economy slowed a lot of the runs and meet and greets plannings down too..:(

....Another thought I had was to also include "Offroad Accessories" into this sub forum..Only that sub forum as it includes mostly camping/Offroad and expedition accessories, that would be easier to find here while planning and getting ready for the next trip/event....

I wouldn't mind seeing 2 separate Off road sub forums.

Overland Expeditions:
For long haul treks such as the one Tbars, Scottb, & Brian1 just had, and runs like CCR.

Wheeling/crawling meets:
T-Haven, Raush Creek, SMORR, Badlands, etc...

Both Off road, but both different in their own respects.

Overland Expeditions:

..These two are only once a year events and are posted/discussed for 6-10 months in advance (and half the guys go to the rock crawling events)...I'm not sure at this time making another sub-forum for just these would be beneficial..:dunno:

There are others planned besides those two ;)

Instead of one forum for all off road events, I just though two (one for each type) would make it simple. Not everybody likes to rock crawl.

Not everybody likes to rock crawl yet.

..Fixed it for ya...:p:

...I wished we had that many people interested in both the offroad types of events and I hope to help improve everything possible here to make that happen..:biggthump:

Just my .02 while I'm just brainstorming an expansion on your thought for a minute

..It hasn't been to long ago that hardly anybody here ever heard of "Overlanding" or "Expeditions" and only a hand full of years ago events like "King of the Hammers", "W.E. Rocks" were unheard of while on this Forum Truckhaven and CCR (Colorado Colors Run) were the only "Featured" events..

adding or limiting new sub forums might breed needing more sub forums

Expedition type has it limiting factors also for many so just camping trips would be another sub-forum..

Rock crawling has several levels say 1-5 so maybe a section for 1-3 and one for 4-5's only..

Then maybe a sub forum for those who only want to do fire roads and the beach?

(Just thoughts and not suggestions)
____________________________________________________________

...I really like how Rick started the "Sticky" program for runs and I see those as current "Featured" events while others that are not as big (and also so anyone can post up their local events) are broke in to their respected general locals..

..I believe what Rick is suggesting due to there not being as many large group runs per each individual geographical area (and some EF related clubs shown are now defunct) is to now just consolidate these into one...

..If not into one, we could maybe do North,South, East, West and ....there's one more I just can't remember..Oh yea, Midwest, while also keeping the "Sticky your run program"..

...But everyone's input is what makes these ideas successful so I hope many more will chime in on this subject too and maybe this can become the best little sub-forum on the net..:biggthump

Just wandering guys because I'm new at posting & the Walapai 4 wheelers Jamboree, should it be Walapai 4 Wheelers monthly runs & events, because I'm posting monthly runs & info about the Gost Town Jamboree. I'm trying to keep everything in one spot, is this what your looking for? or any info on how I'm doing & what would be better & how to change title if need be?

Just a sugestion on rating runs have a heading in this section just about run ratings so everyone is on the same page it works well for our club.

..I can change it to "Walapai 4 Wheelers monthly events - Flagstaff Az." if you wish..;)

..Keeping it in one spot allows other users to subscribe to it and get email notifications even if they don't post in the thread...

I think in this case it would be best to start a new thread for each event. There is no way for you to change the title of the thread itself to reflect different runs, since only moderators and admins can change titles.

Rick, as to your original question, I vote consolidation. Dividing by geography leaves some people out of the loop. I've seen members post before about missing an event they could have attended, but missed the thread because they never look into section where it was posted.

I went and made the move. I left the sticky posts in their respective forums, but the forums are closed to new posts.
