painting center caps

i just bought a new set of black procomps and the center cap is chrome and i think i want them black too. what would be the best prep to paint them? the caps have some small details on them and looks like it would be hard to sand those places. i have access to a small sand blaster at work. would that be too much for the plastic material?

Clean them real good with lacquer thinner or acetone, then, lightly blast them. Just enough to get a slight etching.
Cleaning first is important, you do not want to blast oils into the small pores you will create.
