Hey Guys,

A small black tube came out loose from front right wheel. whats that tube for ?
but Brakes are still working and vehicle is working normally except few cranking noises are comming from right side when i push break pedal to hard.

I am just curious if this is some thing serious or its just one of things that can be fixed at the fly.
I have not been driving my explorer since then.
Please help me out with this one.

Thnx

metal , plastic , rubber?

Brake line?
ABS sensor cable?
vent tube if its a 4x4?

sounds like a vacuum line , there are two routed just above the passenger side front wheel on a Gen II, on its way from the vacuum ball to the HVAC controls
I am guessing you cant switch your heater from floor to vents?

Have the cranking noises been there this whole time?

About Pipe

my Explorer is 96XLT 4X4.
Pipe is thin black rubber tube.

So m guessing from replies that it's a VAC tube. Is it ? or Is it something else. If its a vac tube then do i just reattach it or i have to go and see a mechanic for that.

Thnx Guys !

Cranking noise has been for quite a long time even before the pipe fell off. but now it seemed to have increased.

sounds like the vacuum line
It needs to be plugged back in and checked for leaks, the vacuum lines control things. I suspect this one goes to your vacuum canister which is a plastic ball under your airbox, and then to the interior for the HVAC (heater) control supply line

Without this installed your heater system is likely not working properly

You should get the grinding noise or whatever checked out for sure

could be HVAC condensation tube also. Cranking noise could be unrelated
