I need to replace the rear driver side wheel hub and bearings. I've been pricing the parts all over and found Amazon is the cheapest but I don't want to order the wrong thing can anyone give me a part number or something to go off of so I don't end up with the wrong thing? I want to get the whole assembly for 2002 explorer xlt sport 4wd.. I really don't wanna have to deal with returns because I got the wrong thing. Thanks in advance!

You may have placed this thread in the wrong sub forum, 01-05 Sport Tracs are 2nd gen's, you seem to have a 3rd gen, the 02-05 Explorers. Create the thread again in the 02-05 Explorer(3rd gen) forum.

Leave off the word Sport when searching for parts, that confuses parts people and computers, because before the 3rd gen Explorer, a Sport simply was a 2dr instead of a 4dr. Your XLT Sport is a trim level, it doesn't affect most drivetrain parts choices(unless it's a 91-01 Sport(2dr). Hunt for a 2002-05 Explorer, for the left rear wheel hub and bearings. Regards,

*edited to clarify what the vehicle may be and how to search for parts.

Smart to come here and ask

@CDW6212R it says 2002 Sport Trac in the Year model and trim, plus they posted in the 01-05 Sport trac forum, leads me to believe they own a 02 Sport trac, not a Gen III

Do NOT buy the cheapest wheel bearing you can get, the cheap ones will last weeks not months and not years

Here are the correct part options for your vehicle on rockauto:
2002 FORD EXPLORER SPORT TRAC 4.0L V6 Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly | RockAuto

I recommend timken, Raebestos or Motocraft

2002 Ford Explorer SPORT TRAC 4x4
The parts for a 2002 Explorer will not work! Must be SPORT or SPORT TRAC

The 2001 and 2002 Sport Tracs use the same 8.8" rear diff assembly as the Gen II Explorer's and Mountaineers. The rear wheel bearings (not a hub assembly) are the same as the Gen II Explorers. I'm pretty sure the 2002 ST still used drum brakes on the rear (like the 2001 ST).

EDIT: If you have a '02 Sport and not a Sport Trac (4-door w/small pickup bed on the back) disregard my suggestions.

Technically the '01 and '02 ST's are a 3rd Gen, but most of the mechanical parts used in the ST's are 2nd Gen.

The rear axle bearing looks like this... I recommend a Tinkem brand bearing. You'll also need an axle seal, a bearing puller and a bearing installer (which you can borrow from most auto parts stores).

Confusing info on the OP's profile page.
Information lists 2002 sport trac but also says 4.6 v8

Ditto Jon, what's in the OP post sounds like she wants a rear hub assembly, which makes it a 3rd gen etc. But the profile details don't agree with that. I thought it was just a wrong forum choice, it may be she mixed up the description wording. We try, all at once sometimes.;)

She will know what's needed from these posts, once she realizes what truck it is.

I missed the word rear DANG too early for this

Hopefully they will chime in with what vehicle they own
yes 02 trac is still drums

OP changed vehicle profile from Sport Trac to Sport. XLT trim level is not available on TWO DOOR Sport models.

Sounds like a 2002 XLT (Four Door) with a 4.6L V8.

I've edited my original response (post #5) to clarify my suggestion only applies to '02 Sport Tracs. IDK which vehicle the OP has, but it sounds more like a 2-door Sport or 4-door Explorer V8 now that I've reread the original post.
