Post your WTB Aerostar parts here.

BrooklynBay,

sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the repaired latch and sent it to David already. It was a rush job.

maybe David can take a picture when he receives it? I did the same thing you did, (adding the bracket but I placed the screw further down).

the spring "leg" seemed to hold better in the opposite side of the bracket, then I put it on a vise and sort of crimped the spring leg between the two halves.

Also:
I went to an automotive body shop paint and hardware supplier yesterday, (I ordered a pint of custom interior plastic trim paint), and they have a display of hardware bits. One of the hardware bits on display is a Latch Spring which looks identical to the latch spring on these latches.

the problem will be removing and resetting the large hollow rivet (or whatever it is called), that goes through the spring and where the mounting torx bolt goes through.

finding a solution for this hollow "rivet", I know where to get the replacement spring.

Better yet, I would like to remove all three hollow rivets to separate the two halves of the latch, clean the gunk, grease it, and find a permanent solution to this badly designed part. It's not like Aerostars are going to be extinct tomorrow, people keep buying them and fixing them up. The Aerostar has become a treasured vehicle.

I'm lucky to have found a 1997 in near mint condition, but guess what? the sliding door latch is starting to show the latch symptoms!! This time I'm going to find a permanent solution.

Don't waste time trying to replace rivets or springs. I've already played around with a latch that I cracked open. The bracket & screw set up is the most practical solution, and is a permanent repair. I've already tested it for a couple of months. It has constant use, and has not failed even once.

Driver side rear bumper ext for Aerostar

I'm striking out trying to find the rear bumper extension for my 93 extended A-star. Does anybody have one they are parting out? Or know of a REPUTABLE website to order from? These things must be like gold among the Aerostar community as so many of them deteriorate. Thanks!

BrooklynBay, what exactly is Blackbeard looking for?

Hey BrooklynBay,
If you're asking ThoreauOnWheels about the sliding door latch, I'm good. JoseA fixed me up with a modified latch and it works great.
Thanks for the follow-up.
Sincerely,
David

No, sir, have not found what I need yet. I'm looking for a bumper cover, though, not a door latch.

I will (reluctantly) try eBay. LOL. Tousley doesn't seem to have anything that isn't a current Ford product in their list of models. (No Astar, Ranger, Crown Vic, etc...)

do you mean the side extensions on either side of the van?

Need front drivers side female seatbelt stalk

I need a front drivers side female seat belt stalk.
Something happened to mine and the seatbelt will no longer stay latched.
Anyone know where to get one?
I have stopped at a couple junkyards but they didn't have any Aerostars.

There's a spring behind the red push-button that breaks, they are not repairable.

one option is to become a surgeon and do a transplant from one of the rear seat's seat belt Receivers to the front. Not that difficult but not easy. It can be done.

I am going crazy trying to find...

Well, the last time I had the van torn apart.. My son accidently recycled the plastic chanel and vent (for lack of a proper part name so I cannot seem to find it) that goes behind the drivers seat and under the carpet. So I have the AC running well, heat working great but with no force. The pressure is just bleeding. If anyone has these or can refer my I would appreciate it. Part number? Diagram? Anything would help.

Hope I'm not breaching any rules here by offering a trade ONLY...

I have a A4LD factory (Ford) Transmission Reference Manual I'd love the trade for any of the 1994 Aerostar factory manuals (particularly interested in the electrical/vacuum schematic manual). This puppy is loose-leaf bound, perhaps 500 or so pages and about 3" thick. The Holy Grail of A4LD tranny info. # ptb 304 85-1993

That manual has a lot of good information. You shouldn't get rid of it so fast. I have something that you could use. Send me a PM.
Indeed - the hundreds of detailed images, charts & specs not found anywhere else. Literally the Mother Lode of A4LD info. But it's useless to me because I no longer own one,... and I have NO future plans to buy or dissect anymore automatics... especially A4LD's.

Aerostar "Stowage Box" Lid

For extended model aerostars, a stowage box is located on the very rear floor on each side. On the driver's side, the emergency fuel door release is located inside this box. I need the replacement cover for this box. It has nine screws that hold down the frame for this cover. Any help out there?

Welcome to this forum! Your post was moved into an existing thread in the Aerostar section. You might be able to make a cover yourself out of wood, metal or a hard plastic board if nothing is available in a junkyard. The hardware store sells access panels in metal & plastic that you might be able to modify.
