Dihydrogen Oxide. It is used in and around many hazardous materials, such as nuclear reactors and sewer treatment plants. It is a highly corrosive and erosive substance. It can cause respiratory concerns if inhaled, and heart failure if ingested in sufficient quantities. It is resistive to kinetic forces, and cause injury or death if one encounters a sufficient quantity at a high enough velocity.
It is also the major component in Acid Rain, contributes to the 'Green House Effect', it can cause SEVERE burns,contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape, and it accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
It is also the leading cause of electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes. In the medical field, it has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
And despite all of these dangers, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
as an industrial solvent and coolant.
in nuclear power plants.
in the production of Styrofoam.
as a fire retardant.
in many forms of cruel animal research.
in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.
