Premium fuel for 3.5 eco boost?

I looked up my VIN and saw this info. Does this mean that I need to use premium fuel? OR is it simply recommended.

As per the 2018 Police Interceptor Utility Owner's Manual, the vehicle is designed to run on 87 octanes but for better performance an octane of 91 or higher is recommended. I've run both 87 and 91 in my 3.5L Ecoboost 2017 Platinum and in my 3.0L Ecoboost Aviator and have found that the gains achieved by using 91 octane don't outweigh the cost of the fuel. I do however continue to use 91 in the Aviator since cost isn't a factor due to the limited driving I do.
