Proper operation of lift gate button when vehicle locked

Unfortunately, it is one of the now 'deleted' options on new orders. I do hope, however, that it will be added by Ford once the parts shortage is improving.
Merry Christmas to you and yours Jost.

Hello everyone. Unexpectedly, I also had this problem, the trunk lift door now opens with a button only when all the doors are unlocked or with a key. It would be very useful to know if this problem has been solved by others and how to do it.

Unfortunately, it looks like no one has reported a fix. Has it always been like that or did it just start?
When you say it opens with a button when the vehicle is unlocked, is that the button on the liftgate or the dash? it should open with both. It should also open with the liftgate button or the button on the keyfob when the vehicle is locked.

both buttons work, the button on the key works. The button on the trunk door does not work only if the car is locked

Was it always this way from the time you bought the vehicle?
EDIT: I just read your post in the FORSCan Discussion forum and it appears that seems this problem started when you made some changes to certain settings. If that is the case, then this is not just a standard issue. It is also unlikely that any Ford dealership will agree to work on it.

Hi all. Sorry for not checking back on this old thread to answer some of your questions. Someone asked what Ford’s “customer experience specialist “ had to say. That was a dead end. They really just didn’t know how the liftgate button was supposed to interact with an intelligent access key fob and never would connect me with someone at the corporate level who did know. I wound up taking it to another dealer an hour away whose sales person was kind enough to try what I was talking about on one of their vehicles and confirm it should work as I thought Their tech then disassembled the liftgate to find that the first dealer’s tech had left the relevant sensor’s antenna disconnected when he replaced a leaking taillight assembly. Problem solved. But no thanks to service department of the dealer where I bought it or Ford’s customer service people.

Thanks for the update Skip. If there was a bill for this I hope it was passed along to the original dealer.

Everything worked fine. I think it was me who messed up something with my programming manipulations. We don't have dealers, we'll have to fix it myself.

very interesting. Is it the taillight right or left when looking at the car from behind?

Right taillight assembly replaced under warranty. Leaking. That’s when the tech failed to reconnect the antenna lead. Still under warranty when the other dealer’s tech found and fixed the problem, so no charge. Just a bad taste from not being trusted to know how my car worked by the first dealer.

Thank you, I'll try and see. Apparently dealers all over the world are the same.

Not the ones I've been dealing with over the past 22 years. They (Toyota, Ford) have been excellent.

I can state with full confidence that to replace the taillight, you do not need to remove the lower trunk panel and access the keyless access antenna at all. This is also personal experience, which will not replace the dealer's knowledge. By the way, my problem was solved in a similar way. When remaking the trailer connector to the European one, the masters forgot to connect the antenna. Five minutes and everything worked.
