well i have a friend that has a 03 silverado and when he unlocks the door the back up lights come on. So i was woundering if the is any possibility that we could wire the back up lights to the puddle lights.

WHY?

Sure you could, you would have to tap a wire from the puddle lights to the reverse lights, thats not difficult, but why do they come on?

so you can see in the gargage?
I would rather have the parking lamps come on :)

We had a '97 Buick that all the exterior lights lit up when unlocked. Quite nice for trying to find/get in it.

my '99 buick century does that. Remote unlock turns all the interior/exterior lights on 'till you relock or start it ( or wait 20 or so seconds )

It's the buick " crap, I forgot where I parked my car " option. ( I'm sure it's on the price sheet somewhere )

Are you sure it is his back up lights ?
I know on the Silverado the white lights that are on the sides of the high mount break light are tied into the interior, but not the back up.

thanks for the replies guys. umm im not sure if its those light or not but i thought i was pretty sure that it was the back up lights.

I have some tricky alarm system set-up in my 94 Sport... when I unlock doors all parking lamps and interior lights come on... pretty nice.... being me I have also installed extra puddle lights underneath the truck and under the dashboard... this way when I unlock my truck or simply open the door to get out I can see everything around the truck... now that's a good project if you have nothing better to do with your time...
;)

I don't think that could be mistaken;) Different cars do different things. And those are called Cargo lights and most do operate with the interior lights. Don't work to well when you have a cap though:p
