I'm replacing the bumper cover of my 02 Explorer and I've run into a snag. I have to remove about 6 black, flat-headed pushpins, which attach the upper-cover to the lower-cover.

Can anyone tell me what the name of the tool used to remove those infamous pushpins is called? I found in another forum that you can get one of these tools from AutoZone or the like. Anyone know what it's called? Push Pin Remover Tool? Pimp Push Tool?

Any suggestions would be helpful!

If you have an old barbecue fork, it'll work wonders. It allows for more leverage than a panel tool. :)

I think you are looking for a Door Trim Removal Tool. Most Auto stores should have it.

I have that exact same tool. Picked it up at Napa for about $10. Not my favorite thing to use, once I rushed and broke part of my trim.

That crutchfield tool sucks. I almost never use mine.
Matco has the best one. Snap-on's is also very good.
The Matco is not pricey at all.

If you want I can get a part number tomorrow.

Here is a pic of my trim tool ($4). I removed my entire trim a few weeks back and didn't break a single one... I was amazed at how easy the push pins just popped right out.. On a few stubborn pins I did use a small piece of wood to support the tool so it wasn't directly pushing down on the trim. IMO this tool or one similiar would be right at home in your tool box.

I actually like that style better, the big ones are sometimes impossible to use in certain areas without a little work.
