The Mounty sounds like a tractor the way it is now...
I just had the exhaust shop weld on some flowmaster 40 series 2 chamber with turn down, they cut off the old one and tail pipe, and tilted the flows at an angle to get them to fit

on most cars the flow sits level like :

(__O__) (__O__)

Mine sit like

So its dual exhaust but It needsback pressure I was thinking of taking a h-pipe center from a summit kit and custom fab it to the outlet on the flows then put turn downs, that way there would be back pressure, does this sound like a good idea? or should I cut the cats and put the h-pipe there?
Im gonna post a video soon when i get a day off..

I'm not surprised it's loud. 40s ain't quiet. What diameter pipes should you use? According to Flowmaster, 2 1/4" is ideal for that application. Optimal backpressure and wouldn't be as loud as when larger diameter pipes are used. I think you're stuck with LOUD no matter what you do. It's the nature of 40s is it not?

yeah it is, ess. if you went with the original 40 series and not the delta flows. I guess the only thing you could do is not dump them (if Im reading it right). Also, I think true duals made it louder as well. Maybe use a Y pipe to go into 1 muffler? Maybe get some resonators installed on each pipe?

So does the exhaust turn down under the truck? i found not having a tailpipe on my splorer made it really loud in the cab for exhaust noise and just having a tailpipe made it quieter in the cab, same with my f150.

yes they are 40 series flows not the delta, and its dual mufflers, and there is turn downs, doesnt go over the rear end, I know I could run dual pipes out because Ive seen them on here b4.
Im gonna take a pic soon so u will have an idea,

Sounds pretty damn good from here!

That didn't sound too loud at all.

Dang, that sounds nice.

yeah i am with jigga20001, celly, and madscotsman. Thats not loud at all. It could be from the inside. To clear that up you would need longer pipes to get it going out either straight back or before the rear wheels. Otherwise thats a very healthy sounding V8 ;)

see that video wasnt that great on capturing all the sound it was from a digital camera, I love the deep tone but what the video doesnt let you hear is the tractor like sound. lol well Im glad u guys like it cause I know the neighbors prolly hate it

BAHHH who cares what the neighbors think, just as long as she GROWLS......

yeah, you'll get alot more quiet in the cab if the exhaust makes it out from under you vehicle, tends to echo under the truck, i find anyway.

original flows are always going to be loud. It sounds good tho ! If you really dont like it, get pipes ran to the rear and get aftermarket resonators put on

Don't the two mufflers bang together and/or vibrate and rattle....that would annoy the piss outta me. I'm thinking of going witha 70 series eventually...I hear they are a bit more quiet.

There's a tac mark between the mufflers, almost looks like they were welded together, so they wouldn't bang around under there...
