Question on jacking for suspension work?

I am baffled. When I did my bearing and brake work I placed my jack stands at the beams under coils. (Oh and I did a bad thing my Haynes said to jack under the front diff and I did, now I have to fix a leaky seal!) Now that I want to do suspension work where can I jack and place stands to let suspension hang?

I have some 6 ton jack stands which can go high maybe 25-26", but not high enough to hold the frame just behind the bumper. I have a 2 1/2 ton jack and can't seem to find a jack point where I can get the suspension to hang so I can get stands under the vehicle. I also have a hi-lift and I may have to use it. This is for my ex w/ 5.5" lift and 35's.

Help me out people I'm baffled.

Bad picture, but this is how mine is sitting right now to let the front susp hang. There are two jack stands under the frame behind the susp and a hi-lift in the bumper. It is not going anywhere! Get some boards or concrete blocks or something to lift the stands. Mine are sitting on some 2x6s I have sitting around.

i have placed solid concrete blocks under my jack to raise it up in the past,and also placed concrete blocks or stacked 4x4,2x12 lumber under the jack stands to get them high enough to catch the frame right in front of the rear axle or behind front axle.it seems to work well as long as i remember to set my parking brake and block my wheels!

Dang this just isn't working I used my hi-lift jack since I could get my floor jack to go high enough even with a 6" block under it. In order for my front suspension to hang I need something like 40" in order to get the frame supported in front. My jack stands are 25 1/2" tall.

Can I locate the jackstands on the frame behind the Extended radius arms and be safe??

yes you can, thats how i lifted my truck to do my brakes a couple weeks ago... as long as your jack stands are tall enough......

Ok then I only asked because the radius arms sit around almost the center of the vehicle. It seems that way. I was just worried that this would be too far back.

Thats what I do also. Jack under the coils and jack stands behind the radius arms. You could also use the hilift on your bumper for extra support.

be careful! A BII, 2 door Explorer, and a 4 door are all pretty tippy when they are up like this.

With the tires off you should need to go tooo high to droop the front, I have a long travel TTB setup and with both tires off a railroad tie under each jack stand, its adequate to pull the entire front end off.....
