Radio/NAV Control Illumination Question

Well I bought the 06 Mercury Mountaineer. It is really pretty sharp.

Drove it at night for the 1st time and guess what, no buttons light up around the touch screen. I'm talking about the Radio and NAV buttons like, Media, Menu, Map ETC. None at all, just the screen lights up. There has to be lights for these buttons!

Any ideas on where to troubleshoot?

I have an 06 explorer with the factory nav radio, and my buttons don't light up ether. I have pulled out the radio to see if any wires are loose, and everything looked connected...

FWIW; I had the navigation radio in my '07 and all the buttons did light up.

I have not bought the repair manual for mine yet. Anybody have the wiring diagram for the factory radio?
