Ready to scrap it!!!!!

:exp:the explorer i have now just had the trip meter, spedometer, odometer stop working, what the !!!!! I have checked the fuses and they are all good, pulled the cable off the transmission and that spins the gauges on the dash board. i am stumpped as to what to look for now...i was told that i might have a short in the wires or something but i was hoping that someone that knows what they are talkin about could help me out a lil

Speedo, and odometer are purely mechanical. It won't be a wiring problem.
I'll bet the gear on the cable has stripped. For some reason my tranny eats the plastic gear. I ahve to replace pretty often until I can get a new tranny.

Pull the cable from the tail shaft again and look for any damage to the gear. It should look perfect. It could also be the worm gear in the tail shaft that drives the cable. A bit more work to repair, but doable in an afternoon.

scrap it for that little problem < ------ no way,anway as the other poster said check you cable and change if needed,
