EDIT:
NEW QUESTION: I need a pipe adaptor to go from the 3in. outlet to the 2.25 stock tail pipe and none of the stores around here seem to cary it, how should i rig it up?

VV old question VV

just got the flowmaster 50 Series SUV last night, i got it with the dual 2.25 inlets, what size are my stock pipes on my 4.0 98 mounty? 2.25 right? i looked at the installing a flowmaster thread and his pipe was 2.0 but that was on a 94 so do i have 2.0 or 2.25 pipes?

I'm 99% sure your exhaust is 2.25"

As for the flux capacitor I have know idea. :D :p:

Get under your vehicle and measure it

I didn't think the mounty's came with a 4.0 SOHC, I thought they were all V8's....

Nope. They were available with a 4.0 as well as 2wd.

i would but im in class right now, im runnin to the parts store to pick up some clamps and stuff right after this period so i just needed to know real quick. no time to get under there. thanks though.

am i gona have to route the tailpipe through the flux capacitor?! this is gona be more difficult than i thought...

After class crawl under your truck and take the measurement! If you don’t have a tape barrow one form the parts store.

-as for the Flux Capacitor, Biff isnt done with the 2nd coat of wax yet.

You can only route the tailpipe through the flux capacitor if the capacitor is large enough... or else the capacitor's housing will start discharging to the chassis. I hope this example helps:

3" to 2.25" is quite of a step down.

My might have to use a 3"-2.5" adapter then a 2.5"-2.25" adapter.

I would go to a muffler shop ask them to Bump up piece alumanised (sp) pipe, 2.25” to 3", most shops have what is called a expander on there bender. It cant be more than $20 i would think.

do you got 2.25 ins and 3inch outs? if so i'd just run the 3inch pipe or take it some where to get it ran for you. But you can either go to a shop and have you make them or order one from summitracing.com but i only see ones for 3 to 2 1/2 from them part numbers WLK-41973 or WLK-41972

I was told the 50 series mufflers were too big for explorers. aeaglenfitch let me know if that one fits cause i have a 99 5.0 and am looking at mufflers still.

it's a Flowmaster 50 SUV, it's actualy a bit smaller than the stock muffler and it fit like a dream. i just installed it, now i need to run some kind of pipe out the back, right now it's just an open outlet.

Go to the muffler shop down at 4 corners, they will be able to hook you up with what you need.

Edit: We Need Pics and Sound Clips... :)

i think you mean the one by taco time right? i live in 4 corners and i dont think there's 1 here... how much you think they'll charge for a 2.5 or 3 inch pipe bent to go from the muffler out the back?

i've got a sound clip uploading as i type this.

it depends on how greedy of a shop but i wouldn't expect them to say more then $70-$80 but just because it will take some bending probaily 30min of work to make sure it fits right and weld it. Oh yeah you can really tell thats a V6
