Rear Disc conversion questions

Ok I've read every thread and still not sure which ebrake cable to buy. Printed and read Bretts write up. I have close to 7" of lift and I remember reading something about the ebrake cable from a ranger extended cab??? Just need to find the correct ebrake cable. Any help people???? Or should I buy the one recommended in Bretts write up and wing it?????

your best bet is to just rig up your ebrake cable, finding the exact right rear piece could be tough...
I used a combo Explorer and BII setup. WE had to weld the stop bracket to the floor pan of my BII and then the cables are actually tied together with some tiny cable clamps....

I can get pics if you need.........

Ahh my savior! 410fortune that would be great if you could get some pics. Thanks again!

I used the brake cables off of the same Explorer I got the disc brakes from. I have 5.5 inches of lift, so I wanted to make sure that they didn't bind or stretch when wheeling so I used a forklift to check their length. I had 28 inches of travel from the rear wheels and there was still plenty of play in the cables. They may work for you too even with your 7 inch lift.

Speedfreak, Thanks for the info. Mine is a kit. So any ebrake cable from a '95 up will work?????? Also has anyone removed thier ABS module? Thanks!

Where did you people weld the brake cable mount? I was looking to weld it right under the leaf springs. Just wanted a few thoughts from the other members.

E-brake cable

Ok I got an ebrake cable supposely from a '95. But the sucker is to short on one side. Anyone have a part # I can verify with or ideas. I really want and need a ebrake when wheeling. What did you guys do? Should I take it to a brake shop. My mechanic didn't want to mess with it. Says there should be one out there. Also do the '95s and up run the cable under the middle of the frame or on the side. I frustrated and confused. HELP! Thanks.

well the rear disc brakes off a linc. lsc work on the exp?

No the brakes off an LSC will not work. The axle tube flanges are smaller then the Explorer flanges so the caliper mount bracket will not bolt on. It would work if you built a custom bracket though.

On the Drivers side outside of the frame.

this is driving me nuts and time is running out. I'm thinking of just bringing my ebrake cables to Moab and see if somebody can help me???

I know this is a very old post. I'l ask anyway. What Disc brakes did Brett use in his post and what did you all end up doing with the Emergency brake cables to keep it as stock as possible. I am not Lifted at all. will the '95 and up cables work fine for me?
