'92 Explorer XLT
Hi, im gunna convert my rear leafs into coils, on my 92XLT 2wd. I needa know what parts i'll need, i know im going to need springs, ofcourse.
this is gunna be all custom, are the best places for the springs holders(i dunno their real name)?

also by the way does anyone know where i can get a diagram of the structure of the 92 explorers and a wiring diagram, i know some books have them but if they do then which one should i get, chilton?

thanks
~Brian

Welcome, Haynes Manual has the wiring diagrams also..You might want to check into a Prefab 4-link..Major undertaking.Don't know if it has ever been tried before or if it can be done to a stock explorer..Good Luck

I believe there is a guy on the site that has done this, if not his pic of his truck are on the site.....search this topic.....because it has been around receintly....and yes, this is a huge project!

Check out www.bentandtwisted.com Mike Ladd the owner over there runs coils on both ends of his EB. Runs 44's too! :) I will be going to coils someday but I will also be moving the rear axle back 5-10" and cutting off that part of the body. :D Big mods for me someday.

I too will be going coils someday. I'm looking at a 4000 price tag for the rear alone though, so it maybe a year or two down the line. You will need to upgrade a ton as well as have a ton made. Just do your research and you'll find what you need. Just get out your checkbook though.
