bump....

bumppppp i need help soon.

I don't know for sure, but you may be able to take out the overload leaf to soften it up a little, depending on how worn your leaf spring is. Is it curved, or does it rest on the overload, kind of straight?

softer shocks, custom leaf pack

How many leaves, and from what vehicle are they??? You're SOA right??

ill let you know tomorrow ill count it and take some pictures...

we'll get to the bottom of this :salute: :p:

If you're still have a spring under setup then you can get a softer suspension and more flex by reverting back to stock leaf springs and do a spring over conversion. Go ahead and remove the overload as well from the stock leaf pack. You'll get more body roll, probably, a nice adjustable shock could help. If you feel like you've got too much body roll buy or build a good sway bar...the stock ones are pretty flimsy if ya ask me.

lol what one is the overload spring? and stock leaf pack....what do i need to put in there instead im so lost.

The overload spring is the flat one at the bottom of the pack that doesn't have any curve to it. You can see it in this pic of mine

You have a superlift leaf pack on it now correct? Or do you have a Spring Over Conversion? If you don't know just have a look, if the axle sits ON TOP of the spring you're spring under, if your leaf springs are ABOVE the axle, you have a spring over.

When I first came to this site I was lost on all this stuff too. Best advice I could give anyone just getting started with this stuff is to read, read, read, and read some more on here. Start in the usefull thread forum, then goto the offroad forum. And look at your truck, i've spent alot of time under my rig not doing anything just looking it over and seeing how it is built.

take the sway bar off..... swaybars are ghey and will make your ride stiffer.

ok i have a spring over....does the overload spring just slide out once i loosen the bolts or what?? and its ok to take off the swaybar?

if you already have lots of body roll then dont take off the sway bar. if you do it will make it have even more body roll.

To get any leaf out of the leaf pack, you need to support the truck on jack stands, unbolt the ubolts, unbolt the main leaf to shackle and frame bolts. then once you've got the leaf pack out, you have to remove the center bolt (don't reuse them, get new ones) and then take whatever leaf you want out of the leaf pack. You might wanna think twich about taking out the overload leaf as this might increase the chances of axle wrap. Since you've got 5 leaves in there, you could probably take one of the lower leaves out and reassemble, it'll be less rough. You will lose height when taking out leaves so you'll probably want to get/build yourself some new shackle in order to restore height...

You might wanna check out the thread about F-150 leaves, it's pretty thorough...
