circuit city car audio are all a bunch of morons all there install shops should be burnt to the ground this is what happens when you hire high school kids who think they know what there doing just because they hooked up a system before bunch of flaming ***s...ok spoken my peace and my .02 cents...

oh yea x2 ^^ devilboys comment i agree

Should have bought the SAAB instead...

Man- that SUCKS!!!

I agree that it was unacceptable. But we can't say that ALL Circuit City installers are bad. We have a great installer here in my area. Besides, if you are paying someone to do any kind of work, ie home improvement, car repair, car audio, tatoos, you should at least get some references. Most good installers take lots of pictures of work they have done. I am not saying it was the owers fault, but buyer beware.

Agreed, they did all of my audio work and I've never had a problem with them, and most invasive thing done was putting in my remote starter

take a look behind your receiver sobelover and i am almost certain those wires are held together by either electrical tape or butt connectors :(

And that's why I do my own installations....

No doubt. I may hurt like hell for two days after from contorting myself inside the car but I know it's done right.

geeez, after looking at his youtube, i used to do that kind of crap when i was 16! as for all the people that are bashing him, saying that $12,000 is a little to much, think of it like this, you go out and buy i new car, then have someone hack it up. you are now left with 47 payments, and a hacked up car. if it was mine, and there was a tiny little nick that wasn't all the way into the wire, i would be saying "replace it....NOW!" i had a drive in car wash put some small scratches in my gauge cluster. they told me that they would replace it with a used one, i didn't go for it. i told them to get me i new one, or i could take it to ford, have them get the part and put it in, and would cost him about $350 total. need less to say, i got my way.

I am not a circuit city or any of those places fan. I had a few friends who worked in the install department and yes they are my friends, but I wouldn't let them get anywhere near my car. Since I was 17 I have always put my own systems in, the whole lack of training really bothers me:(

to bad that honda guy can't use that 12k to build a turbo :)

one of the best mechanics/fabricators I've ever known worked for circuit city in their installation department. Apparently not this one though :D

butt connectors are nice, when I buy a plug to plug into my factory harness I connect my stereo to that aftermarket plug via butt connectors or when I do any wiring I use butt connectors they hold wires together MUCH better than electrical tape.

This has been going around the internet the past few days. I used to work at Best Buy and we had a great head installer. We also had a few lousy people there. One person got fired for screwing up something. The thing is, unless you personally know the people there, you don't know what you're getting.

In general, I wouldn't trust Best Buy, Circuit City, or any other McInstall shop unless you know who's doing the work and know they'll do it right.

Butt splices aren't so bad as long as they're done right and have made a good connection. Some people are sloppy and the wires pull right out. You never twist and tape wires together without solder. If they're doing that then it's even worse than I thought. Those places are usually big on T-Taps and ScotchLocks, my dad is big on those, and they really should be avoided except for small stuff. It's not a very reliable connection. I've had to fix a few connections made with those over the years.
