I'm looking to buy a 2002 EB Explorer. I just test drove a really sweet ride but the only problem is that it has a 2" lowering kit that I need to remove or find a way to raise at least 1". I don't go off-roading but I do moderate driving on dirt roads. Does anyone know what the best option is to raise the suspension again and around how much it would cost? I want something that doesn't compromise the handling, neither on or off road. Any help with this would be appreciated.

I'd say your best bet for going back up is to trade springs with someone. I'm sure there are some guys on this board looking to lower that would be more than willing to strike up a deal. As far as going up an inch? Your SOL as far as a lift. I'm sure bigapple will chime in with his customs springs. If you search you'll find many topics about lifting. I went with bigger tires. 265/75/r16 are what I preach. YES they fit, SLIGHT and I mean SLIGHT rubbing.(As I've said before, only on a steep incline with wheel fully locked, and its only the plastic fender guard.) I have Kumho Mud terrains. Yes they are loud on the highway, but I gained a full 2 inches of clearance. Damn I'm ranting, and as usual i need new pics.:D

The thing is that I'm down here in Mexico and there aren't many people to trade with. When a lowering kit is installed, what exactly is usually done to the suspension?

What I meant is that if you didn't mind waiting for, shipping and what not, you switch springs with a member of this site that wants a lowering kit. It would be a pain but I'm sure it would beat the cost of new springs.:dunno:
Someone else will chime in I'm sure but, as far as I know its usually just dropped springs and a camber kit.

yea im that bigapple guy... ive got a set of 2 inch "lifted" springs from coilsprings.com for 160... gives u a decent amount of clearance and they are only like 180... not too bad compared to ground force springs... since u have aftermarket front springs, find someone else with an explorer and get the OEM number from their springs... if u call them up theyll price u up on a set of springs... u could probably manage it urself but ud need something strong enough to break the bolt seal on ur spindle to get ur control arms open... its alot easier to get to them... yea once u do that itll look similar to this...

Thanks for the tips. I'll check around to see what I'll do.

you may be able to find a stock set of springs on ebay. or a junk yard if you have one locally.

the trading is a good idea, if you can afford to have the truck down for a week or so.

That's a sweet truck man, I love the way those tires look...too bad I don't do enough off-roading to warrant those kind.

Did you remove the fender trim and that **** or did it come like that stock? I hate the cheap looking fender crap on mine, all one color looks so much better...

I too can't stand the fender trim. It buldges out too much and screws up the body lines. That's how it came stock.:biggthump

did u put that bumper on urself or is that already a limited?? i have an XLS and i already have an XLT bumper ready to put on i just need to have it painted first...

Its not a limited.... its stock XLT.
Since we keep hijacking your thread, any luck yet neonarc?
