I am about to replace all the ball joints, tie rod ends, and sway bar bushings. I'm going to replace the CV and shafts too.

Is there a test that would tell me if the bearings need replacing too?

Would you recommend replacing just the bearings or the bearing and hub assemblies?

I'm pretty sure you have unit bearings which are part of the hub assembly. If that's the case I would just check them for excessive play and if they seem ok, leave them. Unit bearing hubs are expensive...

The hubs will cost about 75 bucks each, and you are supposed to replace the hub nut also, as it is a compression nut. Also don't forget to get a new hub grease shield. It goes behind the hub on the knuckle.

Try $106 for house brand and $190 for Timken or BCA. I know. I just priced them today.

The axle shafts will come with a hub nut.

Maybe someone could point out what I'm missing here. I had noise in my front end that appeared to be coming from the CV joint or Bearing. I decided to just replace everything. I go to AutoZone and pick up new hubs and CVs. Get home and the damn CV just seemed to long. I run back to Autozone and luckily my core was still there. Put them side by side and the new Duralast CV was 3 inches longer. They double checked the part and said it was the right part and that my truck must not be an '03! I bought in new with 27 miles on it from a dealer. Is there something I am missing? I want to replace the CVs along with the Hub. (was told hub was good for '01 - '06 or something like that so that shouldn't be an issue). Anyone know how to figure what year my truck really is so I can get this done!
Much appreciated!
Also, any opinions on Duralast Hubs?
