S$%*!!! Non start! Fuel pump not kicking on

if the issue is related to the inertia switch, you will not get power to the pump. unless someone bumped your vehicle in your driveway, it's unlikely the inertial switch is the problem. still, anything I possible so it's with checking.

My kid once got in the car so hard he triggered the inertia switch.

This was on an Aussie '93 Ford Falcon.

I don't think the pump was frozen. I could hear it 'buzz' when I turned the key to the On position. No pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail.

"Trying several things" had included thumping the tank and jumping around on the back bumper before I thought of using Heet.

This is a secondary vehicle that probably doesn't see 10 fill-ups in a year. Most of the time it has less than a quarter tank of fuel. Lot's of heat cool cycles to producing condensation in the tank. Sitting still for 7-10 days of single digit lows prior to trying to start it when the Heet appeared to have fixed it. Not a hint of problems when the lows remain above freezing.

Plus, if you're using ethanol blended fuel it holds water in suspension until it reaches a certain concentration. Then the water falls out and sinks to the bottom. This would be more likely to happen on a vehicle that is only fueled a few times a year. BP/Amoco Premium is one of the few gasoline's on the market that cannot contain ethanol. Up to 10% ethanol blend is very common where I live. You can also use various additives to prevent the ethanol from damaging your fuel system.

Now that I have some $... I am going to run the tests to narrow down what to replace. Anyone have a vid or pics of access cutout to get to fuel pump easier? Rust bucket has issues with bolts stripping. >no welder to weld a nut on...

I have to see if the pump assembly and pump is Mexico or US/Canada... Im going to replace it anyways. I found a motorcraft pump & sending unit in my price range. Just have to know if it will work. My vin says USA. No idea if the tank/pump/sending unit is also.

++ Why do parts stores not separate Mex & US/Canada parts clearly if it actually makes a difference?

I think you need the first VIN character to determine country of manufacture.

Here is a thread for cutting the access panel/ Read through the entire thread for pictures of 2nd gen cut out, and ideas for different methods of re covering it.

Thanks everyone.

Turdle... I see the 2nd gen pics. That will do.

I found a 98 xlt 4x4 4.0 sohc for sale. crank no start. died going around a corner. was stout before that.

As it isnt running, havent tested fuel pressure, cant hear fuel pump, cranks no start, and its a perfect donor for my 5.0.. is it actually worth $500? great tires, good brakes, decent body, nice vinyl/aka ford leather, and clean.
