Bare with me, I am searching endless threads as I am also anxiously typing this.
I have a line on an Xcal2, used.
Basically before I commit I just need to confirm a few things:

These arent a 1 time deal, meaning although the previous owner has used it on his computer, I can still hook it up to mine fine right?

Also, I am reading that you need to buy tunes from a supplier, do those download onto the tuner, meaning I can get away with using whatever tunes the previous owner has already downloaded, to avoid buying more?

And im pretty sure, but just to be safe, this will work on my 97 SOHC right? lol.
thanks!!

Ok I got a little ahead of myself. Incase my ecu code does work with what the tuner is set to, does anyone know how much it costs to get these re programmed? thanks.

Silverblade,
First you need to ensure the tuner you are buying is unlocked or it won't work. Unlocked meaning that the previous owner returned the vehicle back to stock. If you get a locked ExCal2 then what you just purchased was a paper weight. By the time you return it back to SCT and the $175.00 charge to unlock you have spent more on a used ExCal than if you would've just purchased new. I sell used ExCal2's on these forums but only unlocked. Otherwise there shouldn't be a problem. My used ExCal2's come with 2 tunes loaded onto the device. Unless the tunes on the device are for your vehicle the will be useless to you. And finally, yes this device will work for your application. All I will need is your "boxcode" off your computer.
